“I’ve been receiving a lot of gifts recently,” Chris said with a smile seeing the driver placing all the items inside the house. “But none of their gifts came inside except yours.”
Jessica stood at the door and cocked her brows.
“What, are you going to keep me out too?”
After the driver left, Jessica wrapped her arms around Chris’s neck and acted coquettishly.
“What gifts did you get? Tell me, did anyone bring you a beauty?”
“I told them that I had a fierce wife at home.”
Jessica pinched him hard and laughed.
“I’m going to the hospital for a meeting tomorrow. The higher–ups know about our relationship, but the normal employees don’t. Once I’m there, it’ll be all business. Anyway, Ben definitely has to be fired. It has nothing to do with you. No medical ethics means no use keeping him.”
After letting go, Jessica took Chris to unwrap the gifts.
They were all small packages, the largest no bigger than an A4 sheet but very thick.
“What are these?”
All the gifts were carefully wrapped.
Chris opened them one by one, his eyes cooling.
They were original text books!
These kinds of medical books were hard to find domestically and not sold anywhere, only Lonat had them, and you had to go to specialized medical schools–ordinary people couldn’t get them.
It was obvious Jessica had spent the entire day just to find these books for Chris.
“Did you look for them one by one?” asked Chris.
Jessica nodded, standing beside him with her hands on the table, pointing at two of the books.
“These few can’t be bought at bookstores. You have to go to the medical school. I found some students about to graduate to take me to see professors, and after getting official permission, I was able to buy them.”
This was the first time Jessica had prepared a gift with such care.
Unlike those expensive clothes and jewelry, Chris truly liked this.
Jessica’s thoughtfulness meant more than anything.
And besides, it was exactly what Chris needed most.
“I really like the gifts you gave me, but you don’t have to work so hard next time. I just want to see you sooner. I’ve simmered the soup, we can eat soon.”
Shannon went to the company first to put her things down, then came to eat with Indya.
“I’ve heard for a long time that Mr. Green is a skilled cook, but this is the first time that I’ve tasted his cooking. It’s much better than the Cosmos,” said Indya, complimenting the dishes after a few bites.
Jessica served Chris some food and glanced at Indya.
“You can’t shut your mouth even when eating.”

“Mr. Green only cares about you. No matter how much I praise, it won’t work,” Indya joked.
Shannon also served Indya food and talked about the trip to Lonat
She said someone had stopped their car in the street–it was an employer fired from the branch compatry.
“How much do you think what he said is credible? The source of the problem with the goods was the higher–ups. It’s been solved for now, but since they couldn’t catch anyone, it will definitely happen again.”
Jessica said, “Catching people is the police’s job. We already reported it and warned them.”
“We’re too for away, and the head office is so distant. Even when you went personally, almost no one listened to you. Looks like this acting director is done for.”
Chris took care of the three ladies by serving them more food.
After the meal, he prepared some fruit and placed it on the coffee table, then sat aside flipping through the original textbooks. Seeing that Chris truly liked the gifts, Jessica breathed a sigh of relief, feeling her efforts were not in vain.
“Don’t do anything to them yet,” said Jessica. “Let’s launch another investigation. Send the personnel information to Roy.”
