Chapter 14
Sophie originally thought that Chris was just trying to scare her, but the dim light in the darkness illuminated Chris’s face, and “Sophie saw the determination in his eyes. At that moment, she felt that what he said was true.
Sophie left in a fit of anger, leaving Chris alone, feeling somewhat weary as he lay on the bed. One arm was draped over his eyes, and the sound of music from outside seeped through the crack in the door. He was separated from the bright lights and noise of the outside world.
It took him a long time, but he finally blendetl into the darkness.
He didn’t know how much time had passed when he thought he heard the faint sound of someone approaching. He initially thought it was Sophie coming back to try the same trick, but as he was about to get up, he smelled a strong scent of alcohol, followed by someone suddenly throwing themselves on top of him
Chris froze for a few seconds, instinctively trying to push the person off, but then he sensed a familiar fragrance.
“Jessica?”
Jessica seemed to be drunk.
“I’ve been looking for you outside for so long. It was only when Albert saw you enter my room that I found you.” Jessica’s whole body seemed to lack strength as she collapsed onto him.
She then lifted her head, her long hair cascading onto Chris’s shoulder, each strand seeming to scratch at his heart.
“You’re drunk? I’ll have someone prepare some water for you,” said Chris, who intended to settle her on the bed before getting
- up.
But he didn’t succeed.
Jessica directly pushed him back onto the bed.
“I’ve been looking for you for so long, and you hid in my room without telling me.” As she spoke, she suddenly leaned down, pressing her red lips against Chris’s face.
Chris furrowed his brows and pushed her away. “Jessica, do you know who I am?”
“Chris.”
From her voice, it seemed that Jessica had drunk a lot, but she was blurry and kept calling his name.
“Do you know what we should do now?”
“Sleep.”
Jessica seemed impatient and began to unbutton Chris’s suit. “Why are you wearing so much?”
Chris instinctively wanted to push her away. After all, they were divorced now, and doing such things felt like crossing a boundary.
But…
Chris was a normal man, and right now, the woman he loved was so close.
Moreover, it had been a long time since he and Jessica had been intimate. Ever since Michael returned to the country, Jessica’s attention had been entirely on Michael, leaving no time for him.
They also always slept in separate rooms. Chris had assumed that Jessica was saving herself for Michael.
Plus, he didn’t place much importance on such matters, so over time, he had gotten used to it.
Jessica’s hands were like flames, sparking fires all over his body. Eventually, Chris couldn’t hold back anymore and rolled over,

pinning her down beneath him.
“Jessica, do you know who I am?” he asked again, and Jessica seemed a bit impatient.

“Chris, what’s wrong with you?” She wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered, “I’ll never mistake someone else for you.”
That was true.
Jessica had never seen Chris as a substitute for Michael. They were two entirely different people.
‘Let’s indulge just this once: Let this be the final farewell.‘
If Jessica recognized him, then it must have been her choice.
When did the banquet outside end? Neither of them knew. Chris used his last bit of rationality to lock the door, then returned to the bed.

It wasn’t even dawn yet when Chris left the room quietly.
After pouring himself a glass of water, he saw a figure in the distance. He instinctively thought it was Albert and was about to approach when he saw the unfamiliar figure.
