Ironically, Abigail used to take pride in her independence and strength, so she never asked her family for money after starting her job.
Furthermore, she felt no need to save; instead, she spent her salary on gifts for Natalia.
Consequently, she now only had a few hundred thousand dollars
in her savings.
The lack of funds made her feel insecure.
As soon as Abigail stepped out of the elevator, she made a call.
A few seconds later, a female voice came through the line, laced with excitement. “Abigail, you busy bee! What’s up?”
Abigail smiled, “I wanted to see if you still need any manuscripts. I have some free time lately.”
Erin Briggs responded enthusiastically, “If it’s your designs, we definitely want them!/
“You’re the chief designer of our brand. Your work has sold very
well and is invaluable!”

The brand Erin referred to was Flor, a domestic luxury label with a century–old history.
In recent years, Flor had suffered a decline in sales due to competition from foreign luxury goods and was even on the brink
of bankruptcy.
In a bold move, the brand manager had signed Abigail as the chief designer against all odds.
Although Abigail had only submitted ten designs, each one had become immensely popular, with even foreign royal princesses placing pre–orders for new products.
Within just a year, Flor skyrocketed to the top of the domestic market, a position it still held.
Abigail had elevated Flor to unprecedented heights.
Yet her identity remained a mystery; no one knew her real name or had ever seen her face. She hadn’t even attended the product launch conference.
This enigma only added allure to her designs.
Erin couldn’t contain her excitement. “So, Abigail, how many can you sketch this time?”

Naturally, Erin hoped for more new designs, but she understood
that Abigail wasn’t in need of money.
She would be thrilled with two or three new pieces.
After a moment of thought, Abigail replied, “I can probably manage about 20 to 30 in a month.”
“Twenty to thirty?” Erin nearly jumped out of her seat in excitement. “That’s incredible!”
Over the past year, Abigail had provided only ten manuscripts.
If they received 20 or 30 in a month, Flor would take off.
Not wanting to discuss her situation with the Winchester family, Abigail simply said, “I’m married now, and I have a husband to support.”
Erin was still lost in the fantasy of Flor becoming a leader in the fashion industry when Abigail’s words registered.
She gasped, “What did you just say? Your husband’s a freeloader?”
A freeloader? Marcus? Absolutely not.
Abigail opened her mouth to explain, but before she could get a

word out, she noticed a shadow falling across her path.
Turning around, she met Marcus‘ gaze.
She had been so focused on the conversation that she hadn’t realized he was right behind her.
Surprised, Abigail blinked, wondering if he had overheard Erin.
Feeling guilty, she hurriedly said into the phone, “Erin, I need to go. I’ll email you the manuscript like usual. Talk later.”
After ending the call quickly, she turned to Marcus, eager to explain.
However, he smiled and said, “It’s an honor to be supported by
you.”
So he had heard everything.
Abigail rubbed her nose, feeling embarrassed. “That’s not what I
meant.”
She had accepted his credit card, and now she said he was a freeloader.
Marcus raised an eyebrow and chuckled, his tone light, “There’s nothing wrong with being a freeloader. I’ll just have to rely on my

skills to keep it going for a while longer.”
“Rely on his skills? What skills?” Abigail thought, letting her imagination run wild.
