Chapter 8
“That’s because Kaelen once saved my life when I was young, so I wanted to heal him to repay that life debt.”
“But in this life, I already refused to treat Kaelen’s legs.”
“I repaid that debt in my previous life–with my own life.”
I twisted my lips.
“I’m a healer from the Moonshadow family. I do my best to save any patient who sincerely seeks my help.”
“Your poor medical skills are your own problem. Don’t pin your failures on me.”
Grace clenched her teeth in fury.
“Elira, you tampered with the medicine! You’re the one who caused Kaelen to lose his legs!”
“Enough!”
Kaelen suddenly roared, interrupting her.
‘What’s the point of arguing about this now?”
‘Mom, call the doctors for the surgery.”
Seeing Kaelen finally agree, Mrs. Velmoran hurried to summon the doctors.
As they wheeled him toward the operating room, Theron suddenly stepped forward and snatched the moonstone bracelet from Kaelen’s wrist.
“Kaelen, stolen items should be returned to their rightful owner.”
Kaelen glared at him venomously.
“Theron, don’t celebrate too soon.”
I stared intently at the bracelet in Theron’s grip, a chill creeping up my spine.

Chapter 8
Could it be that the person who saved me was Theron?
That silver chain was the “childhood bond bracelet” I had given to my savior fourteen years ago.
I froze, my back suddenly cold.
…It wasn’t Kaelen.
It was Theron.
He was the boy who protected me from kidnappers when I was six
years old.
When I was six, a group of Rogues seeking revenge against the werewolves who had banished them from the pack kidnapped many children, including me. They intended to kill us, but I escaped with a boy. During our escape, I broke my leg, and he carried me on his back to safety.
To thank him for saving me, I gave him my ancestral moonstone bracelet.
After learning about my kidnapping, the Moonshadow family sent me to their sacred grounds that same night for my safety. There, surrounded by all the elders, I spent fourteen years learning the healing arts passed down to the Moonshadow family by the Moon Goddess herself. During those fourteen years, the Moonshadow family maintained a low profile, fearing another incident might
harm or kill me.
So I lost all contact with the boy who had saved my life.
Until I happened to see that same moonstone bracelet from fourteen years ago on the wrist of Kaelen, the Alpha of the Velmoran family.
But the true owner of that bracelet was Theron.
So in my previous life–I had mistaken the wrong person, and that mistake cost me my entire life.
Theron’s
eyes flashed coldly: “You think I haven’t confronted you until now because I don’t know the truth about that car accident? If you make it out of that operating room alive, we’ll settle that score.”
“I hope you’ll still have the chance to speak with me.”
Kaelen was wheeled into the White Stone Hall healing section, a sacred medical temple for werewolves specialized in treating Alphas who had lost limbs. The heavy scent of sacred wood and silver vines permeated the halls.

Chapter 8
Theron and I sat in the waiting area. The moonstone bracelet on his wrist gleamed coldly in the moonlight.
“Theron,” I asked softly, “that little wolf who saved me years ago–it was you, wasn’t it?”
He smiled ruefully: “You finally remembered. Did you mistake Kaelen for me because of this
bracelet?”
I lowered my head, my fingertips trembling: “It was too dark that night. I only remember a pair of small hands protecting me as I shivered.”
He nodded, his eyes turning cold: “I wore this bracelet all the time, but later… Kaelen stole it. He saw
how much it meant to me and took it during one of our confrontations.”
My fingers tightened. If not for him, I wouldn’t have mistaken my destined mate in my previous life,
saved the wrong person, and wasted my entire life.
“And earlier, you mentioned a car accident… what’s the truth about that?”
