Chapter 2
“I cannot heal Alpha Kaelen’s legs,” I repeated, my voice as calm as a moon spring beneath frozen
mountains.
Kaelen wheeled himself out and, hearing my words, roared with rage: “Mom, Grace has already gone to the snow mountains. Once she returns with the Lunashade Fern, it will save me–my wolf will awaken, and my legs will heal!”
Mrs. Velmoran sighed: “Lunashade Fern is only a nourishing herb for wolf bodies. Your wolf has been dormant too long–even thousands of plants wouldn’t wake it. Elira from the Moonshadow family is your last hope…”
But Kaelen insisted: “I believe only Grace can save me.”
I said nothing more and turned to leave.
Just as I walked away from the Velmoran estate, a black Maybach stopped in front of me. A woman stepped out, approached me, and performed the highest werewolf bow before falling to her knees at my feet.
“Miss Elira,” she choked through tears, “please save my son Theron… He’s the Alpha of the Silverhollow family. After that car accident, he’s barely clinging to life.”
So the accident a year ago hadn’t just injured Kaelen, but also his archrival, Theron of the Silverhollow family.
After the accident, not only had Theron’s inner wolf fallen into slumber, but he himself had
remained in a coma.
Having suffered through my previous life, I wouldn’t carelessly use my blood to save just anyone, so I refused Mrs. Silverhollow’s request. She didn’t persist, wiping her tears as she left.
My wolf growled in my mind: “Don’t spill your blood for those who don’t deserve it.”
A week later, I received an invitation from the Velmoran family–Grace had returned.
She had actually brought back the Lunashade Fern.
Mrs. Velmoran, worried about Grace’s medicine, asked me to attend and inspect it.

Chapter 2
The banquet was set on the full moon night, in a magnificent courtyard where silver branches. intertwined under the night sky.
At the gathering, Grace never left Kaelen’s side, wrapped in a snow–white cloak, smiling confidently.
Mrs. Velmoran clutched my hand, her face full of concern: “I’m not worried that Grace’s Lunashade Fern won’t work. I’m afraid… if the medicine fails, it will disappoint Kaelen again. He won’t be able
to handle such a blow.”
“This past year, we’ve tried everything. I’ve watched the hope fade from Kaelen’s eyes bit by bit. As his mother, I just don’t know what else to do…”
Before I could offer comfort, Grace pushed Kaelen over to us.
“Don’t worry, Aunt. For this Lunashade Fern, I nearly died on that snow mountain,” she said, her
eyes sliding toward me with a cold smile tugging at her lips.
Kaelen gripped her hand, his voice uncharacteristically gentle: “Once my legs are healed and I can
stand again, I’ll hold our bonding ceremony. You are my destined Luna.”
Grace responded emotionally: “Kaelen, I believe in you.”
My inner wolf snorted: “An Alpha’s oath is certainly cheap.”
Grace looked at me with a hint of mockery in her eyes.
“Unlike those mediocre doctors in the Pack,” Grace glanced sideways at me, “I’m certain I can heal
Kaelen’s legs and awaken his inner wolf.”
As she spoke, several physicians in the room looked uncomfortable, especially the elders who had
failed to treat Kaelen.
“Miss Grace, that’s quite a bold claim. You’re so sure you can heal Alpha Kaelen’s legs?” one challenged.
“Even Elira from the Moonshadow medical family says Kaelen’s legs are beyond healing and his inner wolf can’t be awakened. I don’t believe you have the ability to heal Kaelen!” another added.
“You’re not even a doctor, yet you dare claim to surpass the Moonshadow family?” a third scoffed.
Kaelen frowned but still stood by Grace: “I believe her.”

I let out a soft laugh.
Grace thought I was mocking her, and her face twisted momentarily before she forced composure.
“Miss Elira, I’ve heard you’re the most talented healer of the Moonshadow family this generation.
Yet you refused both the Velmoran family and the Silverhollow family. It’s hard not to wonder if you actually know how to heal at all.”
I smiled slightly.
