Chapter 17
Liam shifted his focus back to his plate and played it cool, like nothing was out of the ordinary.
Felicity’s eyes narrowed just a touch. She was starting to see her role for what it was: a pawn in Liam’s game. But she didn’t mind. She’d play along
“Is there something you wanted to talk about, Felicity?” Olivia asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
Felicity laughed softly, setting down her fork, “Liam just texted me. You’re apartment hunting, right?”
Olivia paused, and then gave a slow nod. “Yeah.”
Felicity smiled, “Don’t bother. I’ve got a place that’s sitting empty. You can move in whenever you like.”
Before Olivia could respond, Liam cut in, “Felicity’s offering. Just take it.”
“But… won’t that be an inconvenience?” Olivia asked hesitantly. Years of living at others‘ mercy had made her overly cautious.
Felicity shook her head without a moment’s hesitation. “Inconvenience? Not at all. But if you feel like you owe me, how about you do me a favor?”
“A favor?”
Felicity nodded, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
“You got it. Anything I can do for you,” Olivia smiled.
“Don’t worry. You’re exactly the person I need.”
It wasn’t until lunch was over and they pulled up to the bridal boutique that Olivia realized what Felicity’s “favor” really was–she wanted help picking
out a wedding dress.
The place was everything it was cracked up to be: the fanciest bridal shop in town. Every dress on display was a stunner impossible to lock away from.
Olivia’s gaze was drawn to a couple walking by, hand in hand, laughing as they entered the store. This was how it was supposed to be—two people excitedly shopping for a wedding dress together. Not like her, doing it all alone.
“Come on.” Felicity’s voice snapped Olivia back. Without waiting for a reply, Felicity looped her arm through Olivia’s and led her inside. Liam followed
close behind, patient as ever.
The store manager was on them in an instant. “Mr. Kline, Ms. Ford! I heard you’re here for wedding dresses today?”
“Yeah,” Felicity said, scanning the room. “Got anything new?”
“Oh, yes! We just got some fresh styles in. I’ll have
meone bring them right out for you to try on,” the manager chirped, all smiles and energy
Felicity was about to reply when she winced and clutched her shoulder.
Liam frowned and couldn’t figure out what she was getting at. But as her “fiancé,” he had to ask with concern, “What’s wrong?”
Olivia’s face was etched with worry.
“My shoulder’s acting up again,” Felicity said, breathing deeply. “It’s killing me.”
Felicity was a well–known violinist, having won major awards at such a young age. She had endless performance invitations, but years of practice a shows had taken a toll on her neck and shoulders.

Chapter 17
“Maybe we should head back and rest,” Olivia suggested quickly.
Felicity shook her head, looking a little disappointed. “We’ve come all this way. It’d feel like such a waste to leave now.”
Olivia bit her lip, at a loss for words.
Felicity’s eyes twinkled with a mischievous glint. “Olivia, why don’t you try on the dresses for me?” she suggested, her tone light and teasing
Olivia’s eyes widened in surprise. ‘What? Try on her wedding dress? That’s not how it works!
