The call with Grace had chased away any hope of more sleep. Olivia threw off the covers and propped herself up against the headboard, her fingers scrolling through social media. Her thumb froze when Neil’s name popped up on her feed–the only account she followed.
Neil’s tweet was hard to miss: [Back on the market! Available now! Also auctioning the villa in the pics below. Like with women, if you don’t want it anymore, get rid of it. Thoughts?]
Olivia’s face was blank as she clicked into the comments. They were flooded with messages of support.
[Neil, you should’ve dumped that clingy mess ages ago.]
[Women have expiration dates. Honestly, it’s kinda shocking you stuck with her for this long. We’ve all been waiting for you to move on.]
[Good riddance. There are plenty of hot chicks out there. You deserve better.]
[Finally, our boy Neil is back.]
A bitter smile flickered across Olivia’s lips. She closed Neil’s profile and unfollowed him without a second thought. From now on, his life was none of her business. And with a newfound sense of clarity, she started typing out a tweet of her own.
Meanwhile, Neil, who’d been up all night, was chatting with a few friends in a group message.
His friend Jason Zimmerman typed: [You’re really selling the house? You and Olivia lived there for two years.]
Another friend Henry Jackson chimed in: [Dude, when will you get it? This is Neil’s way of giving Olivia one last chance.]
Sean Lynn typed: [Yeah, wait till she sees that tweet. She’s gonna freak out.]
Neil scrolled through the messages, a smug smile on his face. He thought to himself, ‘There’s no way Olivia could stay calm after seeing that tweet. Any minute now, she’ll show up at my doorstep, dragging her suitcase.‘
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
Neil almost laughed. ‘Look at her. She’s thrown away the house keys, but she just comes crawling back.‘
He took his time typing into the group chat: [She’s here.]
Henry: [No way! Neil, you’ve got Olivia totally figured out!]
Sean: [Well, she’s been acting up lately. Don’t go easy on her.]
Jason: [Yeah, you gotta keep her in line. Otherwise, she’ll walk all over you.]
Neil didn’t bother replying. He walked downstairs calmly, straightened his robe, and opened the door. “Olivia-”
But then he froze on the spot–it was just the milkman. He’d completely forgotten about the morning delivery–something Olivia usually took care of. No wonder it had slipped his mind.
Neil took the two bags of milk with a dark look on his face and shut the door. His phone was buzzing nonstop in his pocket. He tossed the milk aside and pulled out his phone.
Jason’s message flashed: [Neil! Check this out! Is this Olivia’s Twitter?)
Henry chimed in: [Olivia’s trashing you on Twitter.]

Sean messaged: [Are you sure Olivia’s back?]
Neil tapped on the screenshot Jason had sent.
