Wil

That new charity Calvin had created out of nowhere and conveniently not told him about at all, bothered Wil greatly. So much so that he’d put a call in to Kelly and asked her about it. Only to hear her explain it to him logically, the plan for it was sound, and it did look like everything was in order and above board

Although Calvin donated a lot of money every year to various charities, millions of dollars in fact, he’d never

once expressed a desire of any kind to Wil, about starting his own charitable foundation, nor having one

attached to C.R. Technology either

Wil considered this move to be out of character for Calvin, though the man hadn’t gone anywhere near the state of Virginia. In fact, all week long, prior to Wil finding out about this charity, Calvin had been in this very building working alongside Kelly and her team to draw up the mission statement, and see what was needed of him and the company legally to open a charity that annexed off his company

There was, however, one thing that really bothered Wil about this charity. It was aimed at Elementary Schools and to his knowledge Calvin had never once involved himself in schools. Not even the school his niece and nephew attended, so it was very odd and out of character

The charity, however, Kelly told him would take a while to set up and get running. They had many government rules and regulations to follow, forms to till out and make sure it was all correct legally, that it would take between three and six months of solid planning and paperwork before it was truly official

That something like this couldn’t just be started on a whim. There had to be a real need for the charity, and a solid investment backer, that many things had to be factored into who got the charity’s funds, and Calvin himself though would be the founder of the charity. He was not going to be the one choosing the elementary school that was allocated every year once it was up and running. The school would have to meet the criteria set by the charity to get the funding

Though she did mention they’d already secured a small elementary school which would receive all the things that the charity would uphold once it was legitimate. Just to see what it would actually cost and how long it would take to set it all up and sort it out so a timeframe for the charity’s donation could be added to the

programme

A trial run, so to speak, at the cost of C.R. Technology to help them know what it was actually going to cost for real. From the products, to the shipping and installation, and a tech to teach those that didn’t know who to use it, to use it. That, over the years, the charity would grow, and more schools would benefit as they’d increase the number of schools that got upgrades when larger corporations or wealthy people made donations to the charity through promotional events such as fundraising galas

It did all appear to be above board, even the PR team were involved and working with the advertising agents to come up with a good logo for the charity so that they could start promoting it. The head of PR had told Wil it would bring good publicity to the company and back to Calvin himself. All Wil could do was nod and agree. Charities were not his legal area of specialty; he was Calvin’s personal attorney, but also C.R. Technology’s head corporate lawyer, where he specialised in law regarding intellectual property, and the drawing up of contracts for business deals and takeovers. But he could also go into a courtroom as a litigation lawyer for the company. These were all the things Calvin himself needed Wil to be able to manage, and so that was

what he did

But all other aspects of legal needs for the company were managed by the legal department under him. There were many lawyers with different specialties in the legal department. It was normal for such a big

corporation

Wil had left Calvin and his newfound charity alone since hearing about it, because it had seemed to bel keeping him here inside head office and fully occupied, something Wil needed. He also couldn’t find anything

e miss about it

That was until he got a call from Liam Stevens a week prior to his meeting with him and Marilyn and along with that phone call came a forwarded email from Liam, and there was a picture of C.R. Technology’s new charity booklet, and he got to hear from Liam and read in that email from Marilyn herself just which school Calvin was going to trial run his newfound Interest

He nearly fumed inside his office at seeing those words of Marilyn’s, saying that he had lied to them. She believed he’d told Calvin about the twins, and now Calvin was making a move towards the boys. He’d muttered angrily, I had no idea about it being the boysschool. I knew about the charity being set up, Liam. Questioned it myself, Kelly in legal, said it wouldn’t be up and running for three to six months. I have not mentioned anything to Calvin at all, you have my word on that.”

Then what is going on, William?Liam had asked directly

He’s moving around me as I am him, I dare say. I can only hazard a guess that he’s found out on his own. Though he’s still here in Houston, hasn’t once left, comes into the office every day, appears to be calm and rationalthat is a curiosity to me now. If he knows! Why hasn’t he gone directly there? Something else is

going on.”

If your client comes within 500 meters of mine, I will press charges on her behalf. Without hesitation, William. It will also be seen by me as a full breach of that contract he signed to have Marilyn drop all charges. I’ll have them reinstated and take him to court. I will not account for knowing who s because she has amnesia. Legally documented in her medical files for eight years

really is

He’ll get his name dragged through the mud at every turn. I’ll make it out from his behaviour, if he insists she is his exwife with no proof, that he was clearly an abusive exhusband behind closed doors. So, no matter what evidence he provides, he’ll not get access to those boysbut Wil how, if you didn’t tell him, did he know about the twins, and what school they attend? I can only imagine illegally gained knowledge.”

Will sighed heavily because it was likely to be exactly that, but he said nothing, couldn’t because he didn’t actually know what was going on with Calvin

William, if Calvin managed to get DNA from those boys and test them against himself, there will be more charges laid against him. Let’s see, break and enter and theft. Clearly, Calvin is still stalking Marilyn. Pull that man into line with all of this. Marilyn is willing to work with you. She hasn’t once objected to your demands; this, however, could see all of your own efforts backfire.”

I’m aware, I will handle it, and we’ll discuss it in our meeting in a week,Wil stated

If Marilyn wants to attend it, I wouldn’t hold your breath. I’ll get back to you on that in a day or two.” And the line had clicked closed

Wil had nearly yelled in frustration inside his office, before getting up and marching himself down to Calvin’s office. He ignored the man’s secretary when she told him Calvin was on a business call. He didn’t care right

2/3

at that minute. He looked at Calvin, who was on the phone, and then just sent that forwarded amall to him, to Calvin’s office printer and went and collected it. He knew Calvin was watching him move about his office

He didn’t wait for Calvin to get off the phone either, didn’t say a damned word to him as he moved about. Just took that email and put it right on Calvin’s desk in front of him to read while he was talking. Wil watched as Calvin frowned at it, took in who it was from and what was written on it and then his eyes met Wil’s

Wil glared right at him, he’d asked him directly about that charity and the man had lied to him, or omitted the truth of what he was doing. He wrapped out in angry, clipped words regardless that Calvin was on the phone. I guess I’m resigning. And then he just turned and stalked from Calvin’s office and banged the door shut behind him

He knew Calvin would make his way down to his office and Wil, for the first time, wondered if it was actually time to walk away from being Calvin’s attorney. Maybe he should just offer himself up to be Marilyn’s attomey. He could, in reality, likely know what Calvin was going to do to come at her and the twins and preemptively defend her from Calvin

He banged into his office, then stood there and thought about just that, turned and yanked his door open and rapped out Janine, get me packing boxing. I’m resigning.” He turned back to his office to see Calvin coming

this way

He’d warned the man, that he would quit if he didn’t listen to him where Marilyn was concerned, so here it was. Calvin was about to see it, and the only way to prevent it would be for Calvin to admit everything he’d done, or was doing behind Wil’s back, because Wil actually needed to know what the bloody damage and fallout was going to be, in order to placate Marilyn over this new turn of events

It was time to play hardball with his own best friend and empoloyer
