Calvin

He woke up to find a message from an unknown number on his phone and stared at it with a frown. His number was private and not many had it, certainly not people he didn’t know or approve of and gave it out himself. He dismissed it and saw there was an email waiting for him already and groaned, sometimes his life was too busy. The sun wasn’t even up yet and work was waiting for him

He opened the email to find it was from Wil, an email that he’d forwarded to Calvin from Marilyn herself late last night. He read it and sighed a little to himself, but then a moment later smiled as he realised that she had let the boys send a Christmas gift to his parents

That the unknown message he’d not read and dismissed was likely from her, or the boys, he clicked into it and saw it was from the boys. Smiled a little to himself as he logged her phone number into his phone as Marilyn and then typed a reply to the boys. He now had Marilyn’s direct mobile number, something he never thought he would get, or at least he’d thought not for a very long time

It’s all good boys, you must have been too excited to send your grandparents a gift. They will love that when they get it. Thank your mother for me, for allowing that, and for letting us use her own number to talk.”

He’d showered and dressed and headed for his jet, in a good mood. It was he knew going to be a long few days, but Marilyn hadn’t stopped the contact between him and the boys, just because that phone was now being shipped to his parents by accident

He greeted Wil as he got in the car, Morning Wil.”

Morning Calvin, did you get my email? About the phone,he asked

I did.Calvin nodded

From what we saw yesterday, they are likely to be a handful and a half all the time, constantly on the go,Wil

stated

Mm, the boys have already texted me this morning off their mother’s phone. They’re up at the c***k of dawn every day, earlier than that today in fact,he smiled. It was nice of her to allow that, them to use her phone. It was, but don’t take liberties with it. Don’t go calling her or texting her specifically, just use it to talk to the boys. I wouldn’t go addressing her directly. You two are not there yet.”

I’m well aware of where we’re not,Calvin murmured. But it’s a start. He stated, Hopefully, one day in the future I will be allowed to talk to her.”

Hmm, likely only twinrelated or custodyrelated you understand that right.” Wil sighed. Don’t go getting ahead of yourself, not even I know what Marilyn wants or will do,” he stated

I’m not, it’s just a nice thought is all,he answered, and it was. Do you know how she shipped it, overnight express, or just regular post

You know as much as I know,Wil told him

He and Wil spent the flight time prepping for their trip. He’d received many emails about what was going on over there, and the issues that had risen with the contract, and needed his and Wil’s attention. They spent the flight going through many papers and discussing it. So, they would be ready to argue case in point when they

arrived

He checked that app as they got off the phone just to see how close it was to being delivered to his parents. The phone was it appeared to be moving through the state of Tennessee, and he wondered yet again how she had shipped it, a courier company, express post? It wasn’t he didn’t think air mail, or it would be further along in its destination

How’s Anabell doing?he asked as Wil got off the phone with her

Morning sickness. She’s not a girl that takes being sick very well. Just likes to talk to me or have me there when she’s unwell. She’ll be alright.Wil smiled at him Although she is unhappy about the trip and worried I’ll miss the sonogram on Wednesday. Knows that trips like this often get extended due to hiccups.”

I won’t let you miss it, Wil. You can go home a day early if necessary.”

Yeah, that is what I told her, that you wouldn’t mind. She’s just worried because it’s our first sonogram.Wil

nodded

And that be the very reason I won’t let you miss it. I missed out on all of that, Wil.Calvin sighed heavily to himself, he’d missed everything and had no one to blame but himself. So I will not let you miss them. May I inquire as to why it’s on Christmas Eve?”

Anabell didn’t want to wait until the new year, and that was apparently the next available appointment if she didn’t take the one on Christmas Eve. I told her to take whatever was good for her and the doctors. I would make it work. So four thirty Christmas Eve it is. As long as I leave here by Wednesday morning, early, I’ll make

it on time.”

I’m kind of hoping we’ll be out of here on Monday afternoon. I think they’ve just blown it out of proportion, but if they want to argue it,he shrugged, we should be able to leave by Tuesday at the latest.” Calvin

nodded

That would be good,Wil agreed. “Reviewing the contracts on the plane, I can see why they believe there is an issue, but I honestly don’t think there is. It’s likely they just read into it too much is all. But there is a loophole I see that I didn’t before and that’s likely what they’re playing at.”

Just want a new contract drawn up, but will use this to add a few more clauses is what you’re saying right.” Calvin sighed. It wasn’t the first time he’d had this happen

Yes.Wil nodded

He had the driver take them to the house he owned in Silicon Valley, and he and Wil greeted the half a dozen people staying at the house for business purposes already. Two were packed to leave, he noted, their work here done. They had breakfast, and he stood outside on the deck and leaned on the railing as he sipped a coffee. It was only seven thirty here and no meetings until nine

I see the phones in Tennessee,Wil/commented as he stepped out into the morning sun

Mm, it’s likely going to take it a few days to get to my parents. I’d call them about it, but I think it would ruin the surprise of that gift going to themhe frowned for a moment. He hadn’t really thought about that until right this very minute. Wil, did you give Marilyn my parentsaddress? I never did.”

Wil turned and looked at him and then, after a moment, stated No, I did not.Seemed to be thinking about that very thing. Maybe she just remembered it or”

Or?Calvin prompted. He didn’t know if she’d remembered it. That would be an odd thing to just suddenly

remember, he thought, it was more likely that she would recall him or things to do with them than his

parentsaddress

Maybe she got it from your mother herself,Wil stated

Now that is more likely.he nodded. That made way more sense to him. He did know that his mother had the number for that phone he’d given to Marilyn. I’m curious now though, as to what they talk or text about.” He

mused aloud

Realistically, it could be anything at all Calvin. They all know she has amnesia, so it’s not likely that they talk about the old days. Likely your mother is just trying to learn about who she is now, and find out things about how she’s lived and the boys as well is all.”

But it could be,Calvin commented. He thought his mother would want to see her regain her memories too. Anything is possible,Wil nodded. Let it go, unless Marilyn is willing to tell you, you’re not likely to find out.I bet mother would be willing to tell me though. He smiled; he also had a feeling his mother would be on his side and would try to help him win her back. She’d loved Marrin, and Marilyn in essence was Marrin. She just didn’t recall that at this point in time

Wil actually snorted, I don’t think so. How long has she had that number for and has not told you anything? It’s likely your mother just wants Marilyn to be happy. You did divorce her, and without telling your mother, now she also knows it was also a contract marriage. So…”

Calvin sighed, as he realised that Wil was likely going to be right on that one. It had been weeks now since that knowledge had come out to his mother, and Marilyn had agreed to let his mother have the number, while they were still on that trip. His mother was not going to help him, she’d likely be on Marilyn’s side of all this

She might love him because he was her son, but she also thought he was arrogant and selfish, had gotten married without telling her and divorced without telling her until after the fact, both times. Then Marilyn had gotten harmed by him. Wil was right, his mother was going to be on Marilyn’s side of all this. Other than Wil being on his side, he was alone in trying to win her back, he realised
