“Oh, uh,” I say, looking at Alpha Christina. “There’s not really anything to tell,” I say, remembering what Alpha Christina said about Sebastiana not shutting up if you ask her about herself. “How about you? What’s it like being Christian’s sister?”
“Being his sister is BORING,” she says, giving Christian a look. “But being me is fucking fantastic,” she says grinning.
“Language, Sebastiana,” Alpha Christina says, as if she says this to her daughter a hundred times a day.
“Sorry Mom,” she says, not sounding at all sorry.
“And how can there be nothing to say about yourself. You’re an Alpha female. There must be tons to talk about,” she says, redirecting the
conversation back to me.
I shrug. “My mother trained me to be a Luna. I run the packhouse. That’s about it,” I tell her.
“Well, that sounds incredibly boring,” she says. I can tell she doesn’t mean it in a cruel way, but it still feels like a smack in the face.
“Sebastiana,” Christian growls from beside me.
“My sister is brilliant,” Shane says sharply, instantly coming to my defense. “She is loving and caring, and this pack runs like a well–oiled machine because of her. The pack adores her, and so do I,” he says, reaching over to squeeze my hand.
I smile at my brother, squeezing his hand in thanks for what he said.

I see Sebastiana looking between Shane and I. “I apologize. I didn’t mean it offensively. Being a Luna is very important work. I guess I’ve lived a bit of a charmed life. I have amazing parents who are both Alphas, but don’t manage a pack of their own. So, ‘I’ve never had to step in to help run a pack. I’m sure it’s very difficult.”
“Receiving the loyalty of the pack, especially being underage, is no small feat. Not all Alpha heirs receive the level of adoration that I’ve seen your pack give to you, Alpha Enya, and I haven’t even been here a full day yet. It’s very admirable,” Alpha Sebastian says, making me blush.
“I just try to make sure everyone is taken care of,” I say.
“Which is exactly what a good Alpha AND a good Luna would do,” Alpha Christina says, smiling at me.
“What are you going to do if you’re mated to an Alpha heir, Sebi?” Christian asks her.
She wrinkles her nose. “Learn how to be a Luna, I guess.”
“What else would you do?” I ask her.
“ANYTHING!” she says excitedly. “The world is my fucking oyster!”
“Language, Sebastiana,” Alpha Sebastian says in the same, exhausted tone that his mate used before.
“Sorry Dad,” she says, once again not sounding at all contrite.
“As I was saying, I could do anything. Do you know how many job offers Christian turned down to come here?” she asks.
I frown at Christian. “No.”

“But you’re only sixteen,” I say.

“So, if your mate is an Alpha heir, you’ll reject him?” Shane asks. As an Alpha heir, he obviously doesn’t like the idea.
