When Janice walked in, she exclaimed, “I could smell that amazing aroma from outside. Rachel! I had no idea you were such a talented cook. No wonder Kent’s always raving about your food. With you handling his meals, Zane and I can rest assured.”
She was saying that Rachel was nothing more than a cook now.
Kent suddenly interjected, “What do you take Rach for? Someone I hired just to cook?”
Janice hurried to explain, “Kent, please don’t misunderstand. I never thought of Rachel as just a cook.”

Kent replied arrogantly, “I hope that’s the case. Rach is more important to me than you are.”
Rachel was stunned as she hadn’t expected Kent to stand up for her. Janice, on the other hand, turned pale at those words.
Zane tried to smooth things over for Janice. “Grandpa-
But Kent wouldn’t give him a chance to speak. “Don’t interrupt my meal.”
Zane had no choice but to drop it, since Kent was finally eating well.
Janice could only swallow her anger. She shot Rachel a glare, hating her to the core.
Rachel sat back in her chair calmly, but she didn’t miss the hostile look Janice shot her. Just then, her phone buzzed–it was Sarah. Her thoughts immediately went to Nick and Alyssa at home. She grabbed her phone and said with a casual smile, “Kent, if you ever want a decent meal again, you know who to call. I’ve got something to take care of, so I’m heading out.”
“All right. Be careful on the road.”
“I will.” She ignored Janice and Zane and left quickly. After answering the call, she asked, “Sarah, what’s wrong?”
Sarah’s voice was full of guilt on the other end. “Rach, I had no idea Nick was allergic to lemon. I picked up a bunch of cupcake flavors, and I made sure to set the lemon ones aside for myself. But Nick must’ve snuck a bite when I wasn’t looking.”
“Thank god that I found out early and gave him his medicine right away. I just wante keep you informed.”
Rachel was surprised. “So is everything good now?”
“Yes.”

“That’s good. He was just too greedy. I’ll come back now, it’s no trouble. She turned and entered the elevator.
Just as the elevator doors were closing, Janice suddenly appeared and slipped in nimbly
Rachel had just hung up the phone.
Janice came at her aggressively. “Rachel, can we talk?”
“I’m busy.”
Janice’s eyes turned cold upon being rejected. “Rachel, you came back just to get close to Zane, didn’t you?” She got straight to the point.
Rachel lifted her eyes to look at her. “You think I’m interested? Do you think I could take back the position of Mrs. Jenkins even if I wanted to?”
Her words were sharp. At the very least, they infuriated Janice.
She was aware that Rachel had Kent’s support, and Zane always listened to him, but how could she let Rachel get what she wanted?
She forced herself to stay calm. “Zane doesn’t like you. If he did, he wouldn’t have divorced you seven years ago, would he? You humiliated yourself back then–there’s no reason to do it again seven years later, is there?”
Rachel chuckled lightly. “That depends on my mood. So, Ms. Bailey, are you scared that I’ll take him away?”

“A forced relationship never works. Zane only cares about me. You don’t have the right to compete with me.” Janice was full of confidence.
“Even if Kent likes you, Zane will fight for me. You’d better quit thinking that you’ll have more chances just because you two are working together now.”
