Rachel went straight upstairs. In the living room, Mrs. Freeman and her daughter, Ella Freeman exchanged glances.
Ella immediately scolded, “Who just went upstairs? How could you just casually let strangers in like this?”
The maid explained innocently, “Ms. Ella, that was Ms. Rachel.”
Mrs. Freeman immediately stood up. “What did you say? Rachel? How did she come back so quickly?”
Facing the study room, Rachel pushed the door open. She interrupted Henry, who was on the phone. He was initially annoyed, but his expression changed to delight when he saw it was Rachel whom he had long awaited. Then, he hung up the phone.
“Rach, when did you come back? Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I’ll have the kitchen prepare your favorite dishes right away.”
Rachel sat on the couch. Her eyes showed traces of weariness. She said coolly, “No need to host me. I can’t afford to eat the food of the Freeman family. Let’s cut to the chase. Why did you call me back?”
The smile on Henry’s face was a bit stiff. Rachel, who he hadn’t seen in seven years, had completely changed. Even the way she spoke to him had changed. If it weren’t for the fact that she still had some value to him, he would have already lashed out.
Then, he put on the act of a loving father. “I’m so happy you’re still alive. Now, my only wish is to see you settled in life.”
In Rachel’s eyes, his current act was utterly hypocritical. Seven years ago, everyone was sure that she was dead.
A few months ago, she deliberately leaked the news to let Henry know that she was still alive. Since then, he had been constantly calling her with concern, urging her to come back urgently. She knew that Henry was planning something again. But this time, it was uncertain who would outwit whom.
“All these years, I have been dreaming of your late mother blaming me for not taking good care of you. Now that I finally know you are alive, all I want is to settle you down for the rest of your life. Don’t worry, I will definitely find someone better than Zane for you.”
Henry’s expression was full of fatherly love. But he was completely unaware that his greedy eyes had already betrayed his true intentions.

“A man better than Zane?” Rachel asked.
“Of course,” Henry replied.
A sly glint flashed in Rachel’s eyes. “Sure, why not? How about tonight?”

Henry was thrilled, never expecting Rachel to agree so readily. This made him even more convinced that Rachel must not be living well’abroad. In this way, he could deal with her easily. This time, there would be no more mistakes.
“Excellent! I will make the arrangements right away.”
Rachel got up. She used the excuse of leaving her luggage at the hotel to not stay at the Freemans. However, on her way downstairs, she was blocked by Ella.
“Rachel, I can’t believe it–you actually came back alive.” Ella eyed her up and down with jealousy.
Why did Rachel, this wretched woman look even more stunning after seven years?
With a smile, Rachel said, “Yes, of course I’m alive. Otherwise, wouldn’t my share of the inheritance be taken away by you for nothing?”
Ella was really angry. The inheritance that had been so close to getting was now out of reach again. But then she sneered. “You’re just a divorced woman abandoned by a man. Do you really think you’re still the prestigious socialite you once were? Stop pretending in front of
me.”
Rachel felt annoyed. She raised her hand and slapped Ella.
“Whether I’m a divorced woman or a socialite, I am still your elder sister. What’s the matter? Hasn’t Mrs. Freeman taught you any manners all these years?”
