Freddy chuckled, “Zane, the Freeman residence is in the same neighborhood.”
Zane frowned. “Do you think I’ve lost my memory and don’t know that?”
Freddy cleared his throat and went on, “Which is exactly why I figured I’d stick around for a bit. The Freeman residence is right here, after all. I want to help you figure out whether Rachel came back for another reason. Then again, with her tics to that family, it’d be strange if she didn’t come home, right?”
Zane and Shawn exchanged a glance.
What kind of logic was that? It didn’t add up at all.
Just then, Colin walked in and reported, “Mr. Jenkins, the Freeman family helped Ms. Freeman reinstate her legal identity records today.”
Shawn clicked his tongue. “Rachel’s been back for quite a while, and only now they think to help her with that?”
Colin continued, “I just got word that Ms. Freeman went home with Henry, and-”
Zane’s brows knitted. “And what?”
“Jeremy showed up too.”
At that, Freddy clapped his hands. “See, Zane? Isn’t staying here the best way to get the latest news?”
Zane was speechless.
Upstairs in the Freeman residence, in the room that used to belong to Rachel-
Rachel’s body was already frail, and when she accidentally bumped into the table, everything on it crashed to the floor. She stared at the broken vase scattered in shards, then looked up at Jeremy, who was slowly closing the distance between them.
Gritting her teeth, she forced herself to stay conscious.
She never imagined Henry and Phoebe would go as far as drugging her. She’d been cautious, accounted for every possibility–except this.
She’d misjudged them. But she wasn’t about to let them win.

up if Henry hadn’t repeatedly sworn that this time, nothing would go wrong.
Now, seeing Rachel with no strength to resist, her cheeks flushed, he felt a surge of excitement.

“Rachel, why fight it? Just listen to your father, be mine, and I’ll let you live a lavish lifestyle. Why put yourself through all this suffering?” Jeremy’s eyes were filled with desire. He rubbed his hands together, unable to contain himself. “Don’t worry–even if you used to belong to Zane, I’ll still cherish you.”
As Jeremy stepped in, Rachel swiftly snatched a shard of glass from the floor and, without a second thought, dragged it across her arm. The sudden, searing pain snapped her mind back into focus, and a surge of strength returned to her limbs.
She swung the bloodied shard with force, narrowly missing Jeremy’s face.
“Take one more step–I dare you.”
“Damn it!”
Jeremy hadn’t expected her to fight back like this.
“Rachel, stop resisting. One way or another, you’re mine tonight. Do you really think you’re walking out of here?”
Rachel sneered. “You idiot.”
“You dare insult me?”
Jeremy couldn’t get close because of the sharp shard in her hand. His face turned red with anger, his eyes growing vicious.
At that moment, Rachel made for the balcony.
Before Jeremy could react, she climbed over and jumped without hesitation.
They were on the second floor. Though it was high, if she landed right, she could avoid serious injury.
Even if she broke a bone, Rachel would never let them have their
way.
“Rachel, you-“Jeremy rushed to the balcony, watching as she hit the ground below, reckless and desperate.
But in that same moment, his eyes landed on someone he never expected to see.
The instant Jeremy met Zane’s gaze, his legs buckled beneath him, and he dropped to the
