Chapter 26 The Title of Being MrsJenkins
Janice kept a smile on her face, pretending not to have heard the conversation just now. She passed the things she had specially brought over to Zane. “I heard that Kent was admitted to the hospital, so I came to visit him. I didn’t expect Rachel to be here as well.”
As she said that, she gave Kent a slight nod. “Kent, are you feeling alright?”
“I’m doing fine.”
Rachel stood up and said, “Kent, I’ll come visit you again another day.”
“Visit me at the house next time. You should at least accompany me for a meal.”
“Okay.”
Janice felt completely ignored. When she heard Kent invite Rachel to visit the house, a hint of malice and jealousy flashed across her lowered gaze.
Kent had never acknowledged her position in the family. Even during visits to the Jenkins family’s house, Zane had to escort her.
If Kent acknowledged her, she would have been enjoying the title of being Mrs. Jenkins
already.
Kent ordered, “Zane, see Rachel off.”
Zane frowned slightly. Kent seemed to understand his thoughts and said, “Rachel is a girl. What if she is targeted by bad people? If anything happens to Rachel, I will hold you responsible.”
Janice knew what Kent was trying to achieve, but she still wanted to leave a good impression on him.
She took the initiative and said to Zane, “Zane, Rachel came to visit Kent after all. It is only right for you to see the guest off.”
Rachel’s expression remained calm. Instead, she turned to Kent who was lying on the bed and gave him a slight nod. “Don’t worry about it, Kent. Thank you for your concern. Someone is coming to pick me up. You should rest well.”
After speaking, she turned and left the hospital room.
Seeing this, Janice’s gaze flickered. Suddenly, she changed her mind. “How about this? Zane, you stay here with Kent. I’ll go send Rachel off.”

Okay
As Rachel was waiting for the elevator, she saw Janice exit the hospital room from the corner of her eye.
She walked to Rachel’s side. “Zane is worried about leaving Kent alone, so he asked me to come out and see you off. It’s the same whether Zane or I send you off. You don’t mind, do you, Rachel?”
Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly as the elevator doors opened.
She smiled lightly at Janice. “I don’t mind, but you fainted just yesterday. It might be better to take it easy today. If you faint again, I’m afraid Zane will misunderstand the situation again and assume that I did something cruel towards you. So, you can just send me off until here, Thank you, Ms. Bailey.”
With that, Rachel turned and entered the elevator.
To her surprise, Janice still followed her in.
“It’s okay, my body isn’t that weak. Thanks to Zane’s delicate care of me over the past couple years, my health has improved a lot. And I promised him I would see you off. If I don’t do it properly, he will blame me.” Janice smiled slightly before saying, “Plus, since you’re about to work under Zane now, it’s expected that he should take good care of you.”
Rachel was not surprised that Janice knew about her collaboration with Zane.
On the contrary, she had expected it.
In fact, she wanted Janice to know about it.
Janice noticed that the elevator would descend for some time still. There were only the two of them in the elevator, so she started a conversation out of curiosity, asking, “Rachel, you passed away from an accident seven years ago. It made Zane feel guilty over it for a very long time. But I am happy for you, now that I see you are alive and well. Could you tell me about what truly happened that year?”
After speaking, she added cautiously, saying, “I’m just curious and I harbor no bad intentions. If you feel uncomfortable talking about it, you don’t have to.”
The elevator was about to reach the bottom.
Rachel faced her, her gaze meeting Janice’s cautious and restrained expression. She smiled slightly before, saying, “There’s nothing that makes it uncomfortable to talk about. I was just lucky I didn’t lose this life of mine.”
