Rachel ignored his intimidating gaze and asked in a calm voice, “Mr. Jenkins, didn’t you suspect me of tampering with the wine before?”
He replied coldly, “Can you guarantee that you had no ulterior motives at that time then?”
Each word he spoke felt like a dagger to her heart.
Indeed, Rachel did have such ulterior motives at that time. She thought she could change. Zane’s mind after they had an intimate relationship.
But it was not the case for Zane. He never wavered once he made up his mind.
Pushing aside those ridiculous thoughts, she raised her eyebrows and smiled in amusement. “You don’t have to deceive me with something false. It’s quite insincere, Mr. Jenkins. This is not how you persuade someone to cooperate with you.”
Zane’s expression darkened a little upon listening to her words. “But it’s time for you to keep your promise.”
“Have you apologized to me yet?”
“Quit pushing your luck, Rachel.”
However, Rachel refused to compromise., “Sincerity is key in business.”
As the words fell, Zane grabbed her arm tightly and pushed her against the wall, “Rachel, are you trying to…”
Just then, his phone rang.
It was a call from Janice.
Zane glared at Rachel as he answered the phone. Immediately, his tone softened. “What’s wrong?”
Janice was crying in fear over the phone. “I had a nightmare again, Zane. Can you come over and stay with me?”
“Of course, I’ll be right there.”
In the end, Zane left Rachel alone and rushed out of the room while he was still on the call.

Rachel was grasping the door handle after the door was shut. She knew how Zane felt toward Janice. Thus, there was nothing strange about what had happened just now.
She reminded herself to not ruin the plan.
Then, she left the private room after she settled her emotions.
She was looking at the messages she received on the phone. Some of the messages required her immediate reply.
At that moment, someone bumped into her shoulder, causing her to stagger and crash into the wall.
“You blind idiot walking!”
Rachel frowned, looking at the two drunk men in front of her. The one who had a black shirt on him started pointing and cursing at her.
She wanted to avoid them since she didn’t want to stir up any trouble.
However, they blocked her way.
“Who the hell told you to leave? Don’t you know you should apologize?”
Rachel shook off his hand right away. She scowled. “Stop right there or I’ll call the police!”
“Damn, how arrogant! I’ll make sure you know the consequences of messing with me today!”
The man in black was reaching for Rachel’s hair aggressively. Then, all of a sudden, his outstretched arm was grabbed by someone.
Bang!
He was thrown over the shoulder and slammed heavily onto the ground.
Rachel was startled.
She saw a familiar–looking handsome man who was wearing a black suit, standing beside her.
“Who the hell…” The drunk man stood back up instantly, ready to strike back with his fist. He was dumbfounded the moment he saw the man’s face.
The man had a blank expression. “It’s me, Jordan Yates.”
“I… I didn’t know that she was with you, Mr. Yates,” the drunk man stammered. “I wouldn’t have messed with her if I had known, not even if I had a hundred guts!”
