But not a single person dared step in.
It was painfully obvious that Albert was in a foul mood.
Approaching him now would be asking for trouble.
Albert stared at the shattered phone on the floor, muttering under his breath, “What the hell is wrong with Julian? “He was begging to come back before, and now he won’t even answer the phone? And he still expects to be rescued?”
He scoffed silently. Ridiculous.
If Grace hadn’t shown up today, none
If he could, he’d disown that son of his right now.
would’ve landed on his plate.
Albert looked at the pile of documents on the desk, then forced himself to calm down and called the secretary back in. Lisa entered the office and, seeing the mess, didn’t dare let her eyes wander.
She lowered her head slightly.
“Mr. Hayes, you called for me?”
Albert sat in his chair, expression mostly composed again, though the tension in his eyes still showed he was far from calm.
Lisa grew even more cautious, softening her voice and adjusting her tone carefully.
Just moments ago, they had been seconds away from something intimate, but now everything felt completely different.
Albert gave a noncommittal grunt.
Seeing Lisa’s posture, and how she’d tugged her neckline up, his mood soured even more.
The moment something went wrong, she turned meek and skittish.
Aside from that face, there was really nothing impressive about her.
“Enough. Go find out which police station in Millford that prison call came from–track the number Julian used.
“Once you find it, give me the number of their chief.”
Lisa was a little surprised–why the sudden interest in this?
But one glance at Albert’s face, and she couldn’t help but feel a spark of curiosity.
She couldn’t bring herself to let the power she’d nearly grasped slip away that easily.
Others worked for decades and still couldn’t get what she almost got from just one night.
Clenching her teeth in silence, Lisa lowered herself once again in front of Albert.
“Mr. Hayes, I’m still a little unclear on what you meant earlier. Which police station am I supposed to be looking into?”
As she leaned in, the subtle scent of her perfume drifted toward Albert, slipping into his senses.
And just like that, his earlier thoughts came rushing back.
He looked at her unassuming face and found it amusing.
If this was what she wanted so badly, then he’d give it to her.
Without hesitation, Albert gripped her chin. “What’s this? Couldn’t wait any longer?”

Chapter 900
Lisa let out a soft hum, a trace of flirtation flickering in her eyes.
Seeing that, Albert’s interest deepened.
He gestured for her to lock the door.
But Lisa lowered her head and murmured, “Mr. Hayes; I already locked it when I came in.”
Hearing that, Albert’s amusement only grew. “Oh? So, you were expecting this all along?”
He pulled her into his arms without another word.
What followed was swift and direct.
Afterward, Albert leaned back in his chair, satisfied and in a visibly better mood.
Lisa hadn’t expected that even at his age, Albert still had that much stamina.
He patted her pretty cheek. “Now go handle what I asked. You’ll be rewarded.”
That one line lit her up with joy.
She had worked so hard for this moment and now, she was finally getting what she wanted.
