The thug flinched as the leader lost his temper, fear flickering in his eyes.

The thug cheered, grinning, “That’s what you get for scratching us. Dumb thing actually came back a second time. Talk about asking for it.”
“An animal’s still an animal. No sense of its place.”
Aurora’s bright eyes welled with fury. The sight pierced straight into her chest.
Outside, the world buzzed with summer warmth and noise, completely unaware of the cruelty taking place inside.
But inside, it was a scene of devastation.
Megan lay on the ground, clothes disheveled, not far from the lifeless body of the kitten.
The very kitten that had died trying to protect her.
And yet, those three thugs showed not a shred of remorse.
