Chapter 487
Tessa rubbed her cheek against Grace’s, clearly overjoyed.
“Mom, I just want you to be happy and healthy everyday!”
Grace patted the back of her hand with a warm smile. “That’s all wish for too. As long as you two are doing well, I have nothing more to ask for.”
A flicker passed through Tessa’s eyes, but she said nothing more.
“Well then, Mom, I’m heading out.”
“Alright. You’re all grown up now, I won’t nag. Just be careful when you’re out.”
“Don’t worry.”
As Tessa stepped outside, she paused behind the door, glancing back with a faint smile playing on her lips
“My dear mother… if only you knew your other daughter is lying unconscious right now because of me.
The thought almost made her laugh out loud.
Sometimes she even wondered if Aurora was really Grace’s biological daughter.
But every time that thought crept in, she dismissed it.
After all, Aurora and Grace looked incredibly alike.
Just standing side by side, anyone could tell they were mother and daughter, which only left one possibility to doubt–her own identity.
How else could she explain why Grace was so biased? Why she didn’t inherit any of the good genes?
She looked nothing like Grace, not even in temperament.
And yet, between her and Aurora, Tessa could confidently say Grace still preferred her.
That much, Tessa was absolutely sure of.
Grace noticed her lingering at the door and called out curiously, “What is it, Tessa? Did you forget something?”
“No, Mom,” Tessa replied sweetly. “I was just thinking how lucky I am to have such a wonderful mom like you.”
Grace couldn’t help but chuckle, scolding gently, “Alright, that’s enough sweet talk. Go on now.”
“Okay!” Tessa replied cheerfully.
Watching her leave, Grace felt a wave of emotion rise in her chest.
Arnold, standing nearby, couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off about Tessa today.
She was as flattering as ever, but her happiness seemed different.
This wasn’t her usual forced cheer.
It was genuine, like something particularly delightful had happened.
Still, he had no idea what that might be.
Grace, on the other hand, didn’t question it.
She simply stood there, gazing wistfully at her daughter’s retreating figure.

They were all grown up now. What a feeling.
“Oh right, did you follow up with lan about Aurora yesterday? Did you manage to find her?”
Arnold replied respectfully, “I wasn’t able to reach Jan. I don’t have his contact at the moment. I was planning to check in with your assistant, Jason.”
“Good. Ask around more—don’t miss anyone.”
Grace sighed with a hint of worry.
She was an adult now, and still made people worry.
But Grace still trusted Aurora.
That bet from years ago still lingered vividly in her memory.
All for the sake of chasing a man, Aurora had stayed out of town for three years.
At times, Grace couldn’t help but feel helpless when it came to that daughter.
Aurora always did thing her way. There were times even Grace couldn’t rein her in.
And that, more than anything, was why Grace had trouble liking her.
Unlike Tessa, who was sweet–tongued and knew how to charm.
