Aurora stood to the side with a constant smile on her face. This time, she could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
She had passed Grace’s test. What came next was the real challenge.
Once the excitement died down, Grace looked at Aurora with a smile in her eyes. “Aurora, come to my office.”
Aurora was a little surprised but simply replied, “Okay,” and followed her mother out.
“The Chairwoman’s definitely going to reward her with something.”
“I think there’s a good chance she’ll get promoted.”
“You’re probably right. We’ve all seen what Aurora’s capable of.”
“Exactly. Aurora’s ideas played a huge role in securing this project!”
No one in the department thought otherwise. Everyone genuinely felt happy for her.
As Aurora followed Grace into the office, she understood that her mother was about to honor the bet.
But ever since what had happened last time, there was still a thorn in her heart.
“Madam Grace, what do you need from me?” Aurora shut the door behind her and looked calmly at Grace.
Grace turned around, admiration in her eyes. “You did very well this time. With Vanguard Group’s project in hand, Walton Corporation can rise to the next level. You’ll need to stay involved for the upcoming follow–ups too.”
Aurora said, “I understand.”
Grace looked at her daughter, feeling increasingly satisfied.
She hadn’t expected her to really pull this off.
She saw a reflection of her own brilliance from her younger days.
“After this project, I’m planning to host a business cocktail party. It’ll serve as a message to the manufacturers that Walton Corporation has secured the deal.”
Before Aurora could say anything, Grace continued, “I know what you’re thinking—you want to officially join Walton Corporation.

Aurora was a bit surprised, not expecting her mother to be so direct this time.
“Isn’t that a little sudden?”
“How is it sudden?” Grace looked at her, puzzled.
“You’ve been back in Ravenshore for quite a while now, and you’ve just secured this project. It’s the perfect time to make the announcement.
“Also, I intend to appoint you as the General Manager. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten what I promised you.”
At those words, Aurora’s expression finally softened.
Meeting her mother’s admiring gaze, she understood that Grace meant every word.
“Alright. I’ll follow your arrangements.”
Grace stepped forward and patted her on the shoulder. “Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Just relax. And remember, bring my son–in–law with you to the party.”
Aurora was momentarily stunned, the image of Lucas‘ calm and elegant demeanor flashing through her mind.
Seeing the expectant look in her mother’s eyes, she understood what she meant. Finally, she nodded. “I understand. I’ll talk to him.”
“Good. Go on, then. There’s nothing else here for now.”
Grace reminded her once more, “Just be attentive with the follow–ups. As for the rest, don’t stress too much.”
Aurora responded with a quiet “Alright” and turned to leave.

The grand hall was lavishly decorated, with fine wines and rare spirits lined up on both sides. Everyone present was dressed in elegant attire, their makeup flawless and refined.
