Chapter 83
Warrick’s POV
After 1 shower I step out into my room, relieved to see that Hadley actually listened to me and has left me alone. I put on my bowers and some sweatpants and sigh i wish that I could fix this messed up situation, but
I am not even sure where to start. Everything seems to be going to sh*t.
1 guess I’ll start with the damn night stand“1 mumble to myself, while making my way to the side closest to the bathroom door. I dig around and find nothing. There isn’t much in there, just some old condoms and lube
I walk towards the other side of the bed. This side is my primary sleeping side, so when i start to dig through the nightstand there are actually valuable items. I carefully place them on my bed. My fathers tiny gold
dagger, that has been passed down for at least 4 generations, his ‘lucky‘ coin, fingernail polish that Tali and
Nali stole from our mother and painted my nails with. I still remember the joy shining on their faces during
the session and the laughter that followed when I showed them my finished nails. There is a small picture
book and a few other trinkets that are there for the memories.
After I emptied all drawers to the nightstand I huff, and look at the stuff laying on my bed. Nothing seems
different, so begin to inspect the nightstand as a whole. When I lift it up I see petals laying on the floor.
Turning it on its side I see it.
There is a small bunch of flowers, with a symbol painted on the bottom of the night stand. It is a circle with
my name on one end with something that is akin to an arrow pointing to Hadley’s name on the opposite end
of the circle. The herb bunch is sitting in the middle of the circle, and I don’t have to research to know what
this is. An extra precaution for the love potion that i have been somehow ingesting.
What angers me most is the writing in which our names are in. I recognize it instantly from the little notes I
receive. It’s Hadley’s handwriting, with the big swoops and extra spirals, it’s definitely hers.
1 grab a scrap piece of paper and pinch the herbs in it, not knowing what they will do if I touch them. Then I grab my father’s dagger and s***h across the circle, breaking the binding. It almost feels as if something inside me snaps in place, and it startles me as I realize how much this took hold of me.
“Jax look at your night stands to make sure there isn’t a spell there.” Iminlink to Jax. I began to place everything back the way it was, knowing that if Hadley came in here she would bolt. I want her to be
unknowing when I attack for messing with my head like she has been.
“There is a bunch of herbs tied together in one of my drawers.” Jax responds to m
“Don’t touch them, we can have one of Evan’s witches come and dispose of them, we don’t want to accidentally make matters worse.” I say down the link. I hear the humph in response, but nothing else.
If I had one and so does Jax, it’s only safe to assume that Evan does too. She seems to have grown close to Jax, maybe it’s just taking longer to take hold of her mind. I should check.
With that thought Viggo growls his agreement. I throw a t–shirt on and am out the door without another thought.
I walk down the quiet halls, knowing that most people are sleeping. It’s pretty late, so I try to keep silent. It’s easier said than done though because the stairs are creaky as hell. It’s a good thing that I have the pattern of the loudest squeaks down from when I would sneak out as a kid. I would be waking up the whole’castle with

how much they would groan under my weight now if I didn’t.
My nerves get the best of me as I walk up to Evan’s room. What if she isn’t in there and I get caught going through her things? What if she is there and awake? Do I tell her what is going on or do I just march in and
not exqslam?
As I stop in front of her door I decide to knock. As my knuckle raps on the door and I wait, nobody comes to answer ! tune in and the sounds of steady breathing from within make my brown scrunch. Maybe this would be better. I turn the handle to find that it is unlocked and quietly open the door. Cringing when my breathing
seems too loud.
Every step I take seems like it is as loud as thunder as i make my way towards the nightstand with a picture on it. I glance down at Evan’s sleeping form and smile slightly at the peacefulness on her face. She really is beautiful, and I find myself wanting to reach down and brush some of the hair from her face.
1 take a deep breath to try and ground me and take a look at the picture on her nightstand. It’s a couple, the woman wearing a long black dress holding flowers, while smiling at a man in a suit and tie. Evan looks a lot like the man, making me assume the picture is of her parents. I turn the picture over and see ‘Haven and Lee 1958‘ written on the back in petite words. I set the picture of her parents down and quietly open the one drawer the nightstand has. Holding my breath along the way, like that would help minimize the sound. After the drawer is fully open I look at Evan, still sound asleep.
Lucky for me she didn’t close her curtains and the moonlight illuminates the space in a soft glow, so I can see extremely well. I glance in the drawer, moving some things around to see if I can find any evidence of dried flowers. There is none, thank mother moon, but then my eyes land on a picture and I can’t help but hold it up for a better view.
It’s a picture of Evan holding a child with purple eyes, standing next to a man with purple eyes. It doesn’t take me long to know what I am looking at. Even at that age the child looks like Evan, the only difference is that the child has the man’s eye color and shape. I take deep breaths before shutting the drawer and getting the
hell out of the room.
I don’t remember how I got to my room. All I remember is the rage I feel of Evan having a mate and child that is not me. When I shut my door I glance down to see that I took the damn picture with me. I crumble it when my hand turns into a fist.
I can’t control the anger and heartbreak coming from Viggo so I do the only thing that could make us feel better. I shift and leap off my balcony, running into the forest as fast as I can.
