Warrick’s POV
After Evan left the office I sank back on the chair she was sitting in. Her scent calmed me and irritated me at the same time. I don’t know what is wrong with me. One minute I am getting along with her and feel like she completes me and the next I am pi*ssed and wanting to reject her. It is more than the fact that she is a rogue. The more I see her the more I like. She is kind and understanding, but also tough when she needs to be. She is perfect and somehow I cannot accept that.
Hadley comes to mind each time I think those thoughts about Evan and I get mad at myself for even wishing I could accept Evan. Yes. Evan is a rogue and that is the reason I wanted to reject her before, but it’s not now. Now, I don’t know. It just feels like my heart is pushing me in two different directions and when I think about one versus the other I get angry. It shouldn’t be this hard. Evan is my second chance mate and I mean all of those things I said about mates, but I cannot seem to accept that for myself. Hadley is the one I want to be with and I don’t understand why I would choose her versus the mate bond.
I am pulled from my thoughts from an email from one of my advisors.
‘Reporting that Alpha Lawrence of the Shilou pack has been murdered and replaced by Beta Brutus. Reports say that after finding out his Luna was a halfbreed Alpha Lawrence, seeking punishment for the betrayal, was murdered by a rogue woman who took the Luna and fled. Investigations underway.’
I sit back and rub my temples. There is only one rogue woman who would do such a thing that I could think of. I print out the email and begin making my way to the new wing. People shrink away as I stomp through
the castle in anger.
I let Viggo make the way, tracking her scent to where it is strongest. When I swing open the door I am surprised to see so many people in the tiny office.
“OUT.” I order and they all look to Evan. She nods her head in agreement and they all walk past me and out of the room, closing the door behind them.
“What can I do for you?” Evan asks and I try not to get my feelings jumbled as I see her crystal gray eyes and pouty red lips.
I walk over to her desk and slam the paper down on it. She doesn’t flinch and gracefully takes the paper. As she reads, her eyebrows furrow.
“You can tell me what the hell happened. This offense is punishable by death.” I growl, not even bothering to hide my anger. She gently places the paper down and looks up into my eyes.
“So that was the Shilou pack. Good to know.” She says and I can’t help but growl.
“This was none of your business, you are going to end up killed for what you have done to Alpha Lawrence.” I warn and she stands slamming her hands on the desk, her aura out and competing with mine.
“I am not the one who is in trouble here. I am rogue and therefore don’t fall under your judgment. What I do is of no concern to you.” She grits/out.
“You are living in my castle, in MY pack. You stopped being considered a rogue the moment your pack came to my land.” I answer and she sighs and plops back down in her chair. Surprised by her sudden change in

demeanor, my anger retreats some.
“Look, all you have to do is keep me away from what you call justice until after the war. Then, after you can do whatever you want.” She says and I look at her in confusion.
“That’s not how this works.” I say as I take a seat in front of her desk.
“I am not sorry for killing that sorry excuse for an Alpha. He deserved it.” She says and I sign and run a hand through my hair.
“Whether he did or didn’t was not up to you to decide.” I answer and I feel her frustration.
“You’re right it wasn’t, but I did have to save the Luna. That sh*thole just pissed me off.” She answered and I couldn’t help my frown.
“What are you talking about? You should have stayed out of it. Whatever punishment for his Luma he deemed necessary was for him to implement.” I say and her anger flares again.
“You’re joking right? He beat her for years, until he found out she was a half breed. He was going to torture and kill her and their two year old son. You’d allow that?” She asks in disgust and I can’t help the scowl that appears on my face.
“What kind of monster do you think I am? No, I wouldn’t allow that.” I say and she nods her head.
“So you agree that I did the right thing?” She asks and now I see the sh*t I stepped in.
“Look, I think you did the right thing by saving the child and woman, but you didn’t have to kill the Alpha. That is what the real problem is here.” I answer carefully and she scowls.
“There is no way I was going to let that piece of sh*t live. Besides he pis*sed Veena off when he tried to light us on fire. It’s only fair that I kill him after he tried to kill me. Call it self defense or whatever will help you sleep at night. I don’t really care.” She says, waving a hand in the air and the growl that rips through my throat startles her.
“He tried to KILL YOU?!” Viggo takes control and stands up panting. Her mouth widens in shock and as I am trying my best to reign in a bloodthirsty Viggo, I feel arms around me, shooting sparks through my body. This calms Viggo down enough for me to take back control.
When she hears my heart regulate she looks up into my eyes. Those erystal gray eyes staring into my soul. Without thinking my hand moves to her face and puts her hair behind her ear. Sparks travel up my arm from the contact.
She closes her eyes as if enjoying my touch. I bend down slightly and her eyes shoot open and she jumps a foot back. I clear my throat at the realizations of what I was going to do hadn’t she moved back and my anger soars as an image of Hadley strikes my head.
“I will take care of it. No repercussions will come to you. It was self defense.” I say as I turn around and wa out the door.
What the hell is wrong with me? I was about to kiss Evan.
