Chapter 63
Evangelina’s POV
After I cleaned up and changed, I walked to my office. I had the healers bring the wornan and child here so I could speak to them privately. When I walked in, the woman was already there holding her boy close to her as she looked around in fear. She flinched when I walked in.
“You. You’re the woman who saved me?” She asked and I nodded my head with a small smile, trying to put
her at ease.
“Thank you.” She said and looked down at the sleeping child. I took a seat in front of her, so that my desk was not between us. I took in her blonde hair with neon green highlights and realized that her son had the same. Her green, emerald color eyes are filled with sadness.
“You killed him. Didn’t you? I felt it.” She says looking me straight in the eye.
“Yes, I did.” I answer and she nods, looking down.
“What is your name?” I ask and she looks up again.
“My name is Violet.” She answers and I nod my head.
“Violet, I am sorry that you had to go through what you did. I can promise you that you will not be hurt here. And neither will the little dragon on your lap.” I state and her eyes widen in surprise.
“You. You know? How?” She asks and I smile slightly, noticing that she started to tremble and the grip on the sleeping boy tightened. He looks around the age of two.
“I have a couple of dragons in my pack. 2 are half breed, while the other 3 are full.” I answer and she looks at
me curiously.
“But you’re a wolf.” She states and I nod my head.
“Yes I am, but I have many creatures in my pack! Dragons included.” I answer and she nods reluctantly. “If you wish, you can stay here in my pack. I will not force you to, but it seems to me you might need an accepting community where you are free to be yourself.” I say and I see a tear streak down her face.
“I. I have never had that.” She answers.
“If you would like to stay here, I only ask one thing. I need you to explain to me how you ended up in the situation I found you in.” I explain and a frown marres her delicate face.
“I was born in the dragon kingdom. My mother was a powerful dragon, but my father was a wolf. They found out that they were mates and they went off to be together. The dragons hunted her down and brought her back to the kingdom. When they found out she was pregnant they locked her in the cells and when she had me, they killed her, but kept me in the cells. I grew up being tortured and ostracized. After 20 years of being the servant to the weyr, I escaped. I thought it was a blessing when I came to this land and found my mate right away. Where I am half wolf nobody ever questioned me. I became his Luna and for the last 4 years, it was okay. I didn’t agree with the pack, but they didn’t treat me unkindly. He beat me, but never what I experienced in the weyr so it wasn’t too bad. Once I had our son, he wasn’t as bad. Our son had recently come into his dragon hair and when Lawrence questioned it, I told him the truth. Thinking that he would change his views. He was furious and injected me with poison, beating me bloody, shortly before gathering

the pack to kill me. Then you showed up and here I am.” She said with tears streaming down her face. The child stirred and looked up to his mother.
“Mama?” He asks and puts his small hand on her cheek. She smiles down at him and pulls him closer.
“Can you shift?” I ask and she nods her head.
“I can shift into my wolf, but I have never been able to shift into my dragon. I know she is here because she drives me crazy with her talking.” She answers and I nod.
“Well, we might be able to help with that if you would like.” I say and her eyes light up.
“Really?” She asks in disbelief and I nod.
“Yes. Although it may be harder. I don’t have many double shifters in the pack, let alone a dragon. But we can try.” I say and she nods her head in understanding.
“Violet. How are you doing with your mate passing?” I ask and her eyes sadden.
“I. This is going to sound absolutely horrible, but I am okay. My heart hurts, yes, but I am not as sad as I should be. He was a horrible man. His wolf was amazing, but the human was not.” She says and I nod in understanding.
“I get it. Some mates destroy the bond long before the bond is broken. It hurts less when the bond is weaker.” I answer and she nods, tiredness written over her face.
“I will get a room ready for you and you can let me know tomorrow if you would like to join the pack. Or whenever you make your decision, just let me know tomorrow if you need more time.” I answer and she nods her head, relief written on her face.
“What’s your boys name?” I ask and she smiled down at the toddler cuddling her.
“Aster.” She answers me and I smile.
“Beautiful and strong name.” I say as I get up, walking to the door. Nali, waiting outside the door patiently, nods at me when I open it.
“The room is ready.” She says and I nod my head.
“Thank you. They need to rest.” I say and follow as Nali leads Violet and Aster up to their room. Once we reach the room I step inside with them. It’s not much, a full size bed with a playpen next to it.
“If you need anything feel free to ask for me. I will be happy to help with whatever you need.” I say and she smiles slightly.
“Thank you Alpha…” She says, looking at me to fill in the blank.
“Oh, silly me. I am Alpha Evan of the Rogue pack. I sometimes forget to explain that to people. Apologies.” I say while mentally kicking myself. She chuckled a bit.
“That’s alright. Thank you for all of your help Alpha Evan.” She says.
“You’re welcome. Get some rest and I will have somebody give you a tour later.” I say as I close the door, walking with Nali silently, making our way to my office again so that I can figure out what pack’s Alpha I just killed and speak with the group about it. Hopefully he was inconsequential.
