Chapter 26
Evangelina’s POV
It’s been 2 months since the girls and Henry left. The girl’s birthdays were about a week ago, they are 18 now and have hopefully found their mates..
My stress of caring for the pack has decreased exponentially since the group of advisors has been created. I have 3 werewolves, 3 witches, 1 vampire wolf hybrid, 2 bear shifters, 1 fae, and 1 dragon shifter. They have all helped me when it comes to training regiments, requesting ideas, building, expansion and trade. Pretty much everything that an Alpha stresses about.
To my surprise Linc was upset about the idea of forming a group of advisors when I had told him, Marie and my other gamma’s. I think he felt like the advisors were taking his job, but he learned quickly that they were not here for that. He knew I kept work to myself, but didn’t realize how much. Marie was all for it.
“Knock, Knock.” I hear as I look up to see my office door open, revealing Maxwell.
“Good Morning.” I say and he smiles as he makes his way to one of my chairs.
“What’s on the agenda for today?” He asks.
“Well there is a patch of the veil that needs to be reinforced, Esmorelda to oversee that. There was a fight at the school yesterday that Linc is going to take care of. Regina and Kaden are coming up with options to help out the bear pack a couple hours from here. I have Kibard checking on our two fae subgroups outside that are still a part of the pack. Leviticus is working at the school with the dragon shifters. And I think the others
are trying to figure out some new training ideas.” I list off everybody and Maxwell smiles brightly.
“When I suggested a council of elders I didn’t know that this is what you would do with them. Most packs just go to them for advice, sometimes.” He says and I shake my head.
“Well what is the point of having them if all they are going to do is sit there and look pretty? ask
sarcastically and he belly laughs.
“I don’t think any of us would look pretty just sitting there.” He says and I try to picture it. No he is right, it
would look weird.
“I do like what you did though. We’re advisors, not elders, it feels like we are important again.” He says.
“You always were important, you just have different roles now.” I answer and he rolls his eyes.
Before the conversation can further I receive a mindlink from Hudson, the warrior at the guard tower. He’s coving for another warrior who is out on maternity leave.
“Alpha, you have some visitors. They look like they’ve been running for a while.” He says and I sigh and look at Maxwell. His red eyes shine in concern.
“I have some visitors.” I reiterate Hudson’s words.
“Who?” He asks as he gets up with me.
“You should know by now, even if Hudson knows who it is he won’t tell me. Unless it was an attack.” I say and he furrows his brows.
“I hate that he does that.” He says and I shrug my shoulders.

“Keeps me on my toes.” I say with a smirk as I walk out the packhouse. Maxwell parted ways as he went to the kitchen to get some leftover breakfast.
As I walk down our main road I take in the scenes. All of our shops are open and it is always lovely seeing our people smiling and going about their day. Some wave when they see me, others are too busy to notice I am walking down the shopway.
As I grow close to the veil I see two identical figures waiting outside. One is crying while the other is comforting them. I start walking faster, then once I see who they are and that the one is covered in dried blood I start to run. They shouldn’t be here, it would have taken them over 3 days to run here. I don’t even look at my guards when I run to the veil, they open it before I could run into it.
“Girls?” I ask and they both look at me, pleading with their eyes. For what I am not sure. “Come.” I say gesturing for them to follow me inside. One of my guards hands me a long blanket to wrap Tali in to cover the blood splattered over her.
We are in no shortage of stares while we make our way to the packhouse. Once we reach my office the girls sit down and I bring one of the chairs so I am directly in front of them.
“What happened?” I ask. Nali’s light gray eyes hold tears.
“I didn’t know what he was doing to her.” She says and I feel my anger start to bubble.
“I need to know what happened.” I say softly, even though I have some inkling. Instead of them talking I am pulled into a memory.
I recognize those blue with orange eyes anywhere.
“Talissa, you need to train. I’ve seen the growth in you over the summer, but that doesn’t mean that you can slack on your training now. I have let you and your sister readjust for the past month and a half, but now that we know you don’t have a mate you need to start training again.” Warrick says to a standing Tali.
“Not all of the people were in attendance at the party. Nali and I should be allowed to trave find our mates. “She almost pleads.
“Your mate will be sent from the goddess when she deems the time is right. Until then you will stay here and continue your duties as princess. That includes training.” He says roughly. Tali slumps over in defeat.
“Yes brother.” She says, then I am thrown into the small classroom lam familiar with from her first memory. The man who is supposed to train her is looking at her with a twisted, dark look on his face.
“You thought you could hide from me? Stop training?” He says darkly, then laughs a sickening laugh. “You’re more stupid than I thought you were.” He says grabbing her arm. I see the anger in her eyes.
“Make one more move and you’re dead.” Tali warns and it takes the man by surprise, but then he laughs and lets go of her arm only to punch Tali/in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.
“You think you can threaten me b*tch?” He roars then kicks her in the stomach. “I am stronger than you. I will do what I please and you will take it.” He yells then kicks her in the face. He picks her up then throws her on the couch in the room.
He starts to unhook his buckle and I see the daze that Tali is in clear as she registers what is happening. She takes a deep, shaking breath, and kicks her right foot at the man, successfully hitting him in the stomach. It winds him and by the time Tali is up and running toward the door, he regains his breath and catches her from behind. I see her eyes focus in and I can tell she is looking into the future.

When she focuses back she brings her head back and smashes the man’s nose, then stomps on his foot to
get him to release her. Once he does she turns around to see the man giving her a death glare.
“Why you little b*tch.” He growls and goes to attack her. She dodged each attack and was able to counter with some of her own. He keeps attacking and I see Tali’s wolf finally step in, half shifting and clawing at the man with each punch they throw. He starts screaming and falls to the floor, but that doesn’t satiate Tali or her wolf. They straddle the man and start punching and clawing his face. When his screams stop Tali’s wolf retreats and her hands turn back to normal. She looks around in horror as she sees that she and the room are covered in blood. She scrambles to her feet and I see the fear on her face. She runs to the door and fumbles with it. She bolts from the room and down a hidden set of stairs close to it. She shifts into her dirty blonde wolf and races to the woods. A few minutes later an identical blonde wolf runs up to her side. Without words they both continue running.
