Chapter56
Zane’s POV
We make our way to our assigned doors, taking turn after turn in a rush. We already cleared one cell, and are making our way to the other on this side of the tunnels. Evan is using her ability to see if there are guards waiting to attack us. Just as we reach the end of the hall holding our next check I stop.
“Found her.” I hear Killian says through mindlink.
“Killian found her.” I tell Evan, who turns to me and nods, then leads me around towards the cell they were checking. It was the furthest from everyone else and we took some extra turns avoiding some guards on the way. The main hallway was unavoidable and we ended up fighting off 6 guards. Well Evan fought off 4, and I only had 2. She is freaky good with her abilities and a knife, impressing and scaring me at the same time.
Evan is mindlinking the others in the tunnels and letting them know where to find the guards we are avoiding in order to get to Ziana fastest.
As we round the final corner we see a pile of dead bodies, some fried, others bleeding. Marie holds the final man up by his throat frying him with her gift.
I try not to gag, but the smell is anything but pleasant. She drops him and turns to us, hands sparking.
“They just kept coming. Killian went in, but didn’t come out. I think there is a trap.” Marie says, breathless. Evan nods then pauses, I notice her eyes go almost translucent as she blanks out. The adrenaline and wolf in my demand I do something, but I’m not stupid. I know to wait for Evan, being that she can use her gift to help.

“Okay.” She says tuning back in and looking from me to Marie. “I am going in first. There is a man hiding behind the door that I will take care of. Zane, you need to use the air to blow the man away from Ziana, Marie you need to electrocute him so he is unconscious.” Evan instructs and we agree as she narrows her eyes on Marie.
“Unconscious, Marie. Not dead.” She states and Marie huffs.
“Fine.” She answers and we follow Evan to the end of the hall, waiting until she slams the door open and goes behind it to fix our view inside. I focus on the air around the room and aim it towards the only figures I see, catching Ziana and the man unaware. He stumbles as Ziana sways in her chains. Marie quickly follows me and electrocutes the man.
I rush to a sobbing Ziana and yank on her chains. I get burned but don’t care. She needs to get down now. I hear a crunch behind me and turn, noticing a man’s face being smashed into the ground as Evan sits on top of him banging over and over. I cringe, but turn my attention to Ziana again. Marie comes up beside me with keys.
“Hold her up, I’ll unlock the cuffs.” She says. I follow her order and grab my naked, bloody and bruised, sobbing mate. The chain clanks down as Ziana’s weight falls into me and she continues sobbing.
“Where’s Killian, Jove?” I ask and she sobs even harder.
“They. Th. He. Plane.” Is all I hear. I try not to push her, but I can’t feel him and my panic is starting to rear its ugly head again.

Chapter 56
“Love. Where is he?” I ask and she just shakes her head.
“Oh honey. We need to get you out of here. We will get him back. We will find a way.” Evan says, coming to stand next to me, with blood splattered around her.
“What are you talking about? Where is he?” I ask and she narrows her eyes at me, then they soften with
remorse.
“He is currently lost in the transportation plane.” She says and my eyes widen. She shakes her head then points to Ziana. Who as if on cue, faints in my arms. I pick her up in bridal style and try not to panic about Killian. We will get him back, we have to.
“We need to get out of here.” Evan says, as Marie hauls the guy up in a fireman’s carry. I see sparks traveling up and down their bodies and am guessing that she is doing that to keep him unconscious.
She nods to signal that she is ready and we all begin to make our way back to the outside, Evan leading the
way.
Once we reach the outside I notice all of the bodies laying around. Addie pops up out of nowhere, wide eyed and bloody.
“Take us to the pack hospital Addie.” I say and she nods, looks around and grabs us, putting us in the center of the emergency room.
“I’ll be back. I’m going to help the others.” She says and disappears. Nurses and doctors surround me and
one brings a gurney over for me to set Ziana down. They take her to a private room, while instructing me to stay outside.
My thoughts race as I wait for them to allow me into her room. Ziana needs to be okay. She didn’t seem like
she was dying, but that doesn’t mean jack sh*t. She was badly hurt and I haven’t seen her for days. My wolf
is stirring with the need to see her and make sure she is alright.
It also doesn’t help that Killian is not here. I have never heard of somebody coming out of the transportation plane once they get lost. How the hell do we get Killian out?
“Beta?” I don’t know how long it has been, but my thoughts are interrupted by doctor Katrina, stepping out of
Zlana’s room and pulling me to the present.. I turned my attention to her.
“Luna Ziana suffered many serious injuries. Some of which I have never seen before. It also looks like there
was a dark ritual performed on her. We have asked the witches from the royal pack to come and help her with
that. We are hoping they are able to get rid of the effects of it somehow. It looks like it might have been a ritual to remove her mating marks as one seems to have faded. We need to wait and see what the witches
are able to do before concluding what the lasting effects of it were. You are able to see her now.” She
explains and I don’t wait for any other confirmation as I rush into her room and take her hand.
The sparks shooting up my hand tell me my mating mark is okay, but when I look at Killian’s it isn’t as prominent as it used to be.
Oh goddess, please help us. Let them both be okay.
