Chapter 39 I Believe in Her
Fannie’s vision was blurred from crying, but Emma saw everything clearly. na saw everything clearly.
The delicate–looking Alice had just jabbed a needle straight into her father’s head.
Emma’s eyes widened in shock. She was speechless.
“Are you
insane?!”
The nurse snapped out of her shock and made a move.
If anything went wrong with the patient under her watch, her job was on the line.
As Alice was about to stick in the second needle, the nurse rushed over to stop her.
But Alice didn’t flinch. She calmly used her free hand to press right on the nurse’s forehead.
The nurse was way bigger than her, and Alice looked like she could be knocked over by a breeze.
Yet somehow, she held the nurse off with just one arm.
“Don’t butt in. I can wake him up.”
The nurse was nearly hysterical. “Are you hearing yourself? This is a hospital! Even our top doctors gave up–what makes you think you can do anything?
“Let go of the patient right now, or I’m calling the cops!”
Alice slid in the third needle without a blink. Her voice dropped.
“If calling them shuts you up, then do i

Outside, the doctor who’d been talking to Emma and Fannie realized somering was wrong. He came rushing in, trying to stop Alice while shouting for security at the same time.
Meanwhile, Emma and Fannie were more focused on the patient, Anthony Quintana, terrified that something might go wrong.

Chapter 39 I Believe in Her
Alice looked irritated. “You all are so noisy!”
She was clearly fed up, but she didn’t stop what she was doing. Before the doctor could reach her, she’d already used the tenth needle.
“Miss, this counts as attempted murder!” he said, his face tense, hoping she’d back off.
Bruno Davidson, the doctor in charge of Anthony, completely lost it.
“Get her out of here now! How can she treat a patient like a toy? If a few needles could fix everything, we wouldn’t even need doctors!”
Right as he finished yelling, security guards burst into the ward.
But since Alice was still working on Anthony, none of them dared to step in just yet.
Bruno clenched his jaw. “What are you all waiting for? Do you need her to kill him before taking action?”
Alice warned, “Three more needles left. Stay quiet.”
Fannie was sobbing harder now, arms wrapped around her daughter. She was so full of fear and emotion that she couldn’t speak.
Emma lifted her head and looked at Alice, the same person who used to ask her for help with donations.
Even though she didn’t know why, a strong sense of trust bloomed inside her.
“Don’t move,” she said suddenly. “I believe in her.”
Emma hadn’t planned to say it, but once it was out, she meant every word.
Fannie stared at Emma in shock, not expecting that at all.
Emma spoke again, more confidently this time. “I trust Ms. Spencer.”
Fannie covered her face again, crying harder as her tears soaked her palms.
Maybe Emma was right. If her husband wasn’t going to wake up, letting him go might be the kindest thing.
He would have no more pain after he died. But it still hurt too much to think about losing him.

She cried even more.
Bruno looked furious. “Are you ready to take responsibility for this?”
This was a hospital. If something went wrong, he could lose everything.
Emma took a steady breath. “You can record a video of me right now. I’ll make sure the hospital stays out of it.”
Bruno didn’t hesitate and took out his phone. “Alright, but don’t say we forced you.”
Emma nodded with resolve. “I understand. This is on me. I’ll own whatever happens.”
By the time the video ended, Alice had already placed the final needle.
She started to count.
“Three, two…
Bruno stuffed his phone back in his pocket with a sarcastic smile.
“Do you think you’re a miracle doctor? You’re just embarrassing yourself!”
“One.”
Right then, a sharp, raspy breath broke the silence. “Ugh…”
It was as if someone had pulled life straight out of thin air and stuffed it back into Anthony’s lungs, Color returned to his pale face, and his eyelids fluttered open.
He was awake.
Everyone in the room–doctors, nurses, and even the guards–stared in disbelief at Anthony.
-As word spread, the hospital director and senior staff hurried over, crowding into the ward to see for themselves.
“This can’t be happening!” Bruno exclaimed in shock.
