Janice and Chloe exchanged a look. Their eyes were ringed with heavy shadows. For a second, they both cracked a tired smile. 

Alice shook her head, half amused. “Didn’t think you’d be this loyal to the job.” 

These days, most folks just tolerated work. 

Chloe took a closer look at Alice and suddenly froze.

Alice gave a calm smile.
