Alice didn’t bother to take his accusation seriously, but Linda started to feel anxious.
She used to be the most important one in Boston’s eyes.

She walked over and stepped between Darlene and Boston.
“Forget it. Some things aren’t worth making a big deal out of.”
Risa was about ready to lose it.

If it wasn’t for Alice’s nationality being a factor in the casting, she wouldn’t even bother holding auditions here.
“If you want to be part of this selection, then stay. If not, get the hell out now! And let me make this clear- I’m Risa. My reputation speaks for itself. I’d never put actors in my movie who aren’t up to standard. So make your choice. But if anyone keeps whining, I’ll personally throw you out,” she snapped.
Instantly, silence fell.
Risa’s relationship with Alice had definitely blindsided a lot of people, but working under Risa meant a guaranteed spotlight and a golden ticket to the international market.
If they kept pushing their luck, she could easily drop them altogether.
After all, plenty of foreign actors were lined up for this opportunity.
Seeing no one dared speak up, Risa waved her hand to signal the start.
Alice calmly took a seat next to a highly respected veteran actor.
The actor, seeing her sit beside him, looked irritated.
He quietly switched seats with a nearby actress, under the pretense of “protecting his reputation.”
The actress, however, was friendly and accommodating. She even offered Alice a lollipop with a warm
smile.
Alice glanced at the name tag–Sheila Newton.

She gently took Sheila’s hand.
“Be careful. Stay away from the water for a while.”
Sheila blinked. “Huh?”
“Even if you absolutely can’t avoid it, make sure you’ve got a trusted aide with you, someone who can swim.”
Sheila still didn’t quite understand. “Is this because you know I’m filming a drowning scene soon?”
Alice mentally calculated the timing. “No. Not then.”
Sheila frowned. “What do you mean?”
“Just trust me, Ms. Newton,” Alice said softly.
Sheila, now in her fifties, was well–respected in the industry and known for being kind.
She wasn’t the type to assume bad intentions.
She just figured Alice was making conversation, maybe trying to build rapport.
It wasn’t unusual. She’d seen plenty of people do that, so she didn’t think much of it.
She simply offered Alice a friendly smile.
“Alright. I’ll keep it in mind. Thank you.”
Alice knew she hadn’t taken it seriously, but she couldn’t explain more.
So she stayed quiet.
Still waiting for the auditions to start, she casually glanced at the veteran actor who’d avoided sitting beside her earlier.
One glance, and she immediately noticed the dark, heavy look between his brows.
Pressing her lips together, she kept her thoughts to herself.

Because of the “ladies first” rule, the actresses went up
first.
With Darlene disqualified, a relatively unknown young actress had stepped in as her replacement.
Meanwhile, Darlene had cried so much over losing her spot that her eyes were swollen.

Darlene had always been praised for her acting in the industry, and she’d been confident going in.
“I used to never believe you when you said those things, but today I get it. She really does hold grudges over the smallest things. I can fight for other opportunities after losing this one, but what about you?”
Boston’s expression darkened even more.
Still, he patiently patted her back.
“Risa has a pretty good reputation in the industry. It shouldn’t be something to worry about.”
Even as he said that, it was clear from his tone that he had his doubts.
Darlene was genuinely heartbroken, so she didn’t notice his hesitation. She just kept crying.
Linda stood nearby, her eyes burning with jealousy as she watched Darlene.
Boston had always put her first, but now he was focused on comforting that bitch. How was she supposed to tolerate that?
“Boston, look at Levi–he’s already over there practicing his lines. Can’t you be a little more proactive too?” she said in a mock–chiding, almost playful tone.
That teasing, half–pampering tone had always been the way things were between the siblings.
Boston didn’t find anything wrong with it.
“Alright.”
Then he turned back to Darlene.
“Darlene, take a break for now. I’ll come check on you later.”
Darlene, knowing when to be considerate, nodded.
“I know what you mean. I won’t make things harder for you. Do your best. If you perform well, I’ll get to share in the glow too.”
Boston gave her a faint smile before finally walking off to wait for his turn.
Alice, meanwhile, had no idea there were already irreparable cracks forming between them.
At that moment, she was simply focused on her job–scoring.
Her marks were noticeably lower than those of the other judges, which had several of the actors quietly fuming.
