Chapter 5
After Mason left, I slowly fell asleep.
The next day.
I finished getting ready and was just reaching the hotel lobby when Mason walked straight toward me.
‘Elodie, Nova accidentally saw the wedding dress we ordered before on my phone. She really likes it.”
‘Could you let her have the dress?”
Before I could answer, I saw Nova walking toward us already wearing that wedding dress.
She was already wearing it, yet still pretending to ask for my opinion.
I looked directly into Mason’s eyes and answered: “Fine.”
I’d already decided I didn’t want Mason anymore. What was one wedding dress that someone else had worn?
Seeing how readily I agreed, Mason’s brow furrowed.
He looked like he wanted to say something else, but Nova had already reached his side.
“Mason, what are you chatting with Elodie about?”
Mason turned his attention to her, looking at Nova tenderly: “Nothing important.”
Nova hugged his arm: “You better not betray me by flirting with other women, or I’ll never forgive you.”
At the same time, her friend stepped forward and deliberately said to me: “Nova, don’t scare Mason. Remember when you two fought years ago? You didn’t come home all night and turned off your phone. Mason went crazy looking for you everywhere and even got in a car accident.”
Hearing this, I suddenly felt a bit ridiculous.
During my three years with Mason, we’d fought too.
I’d also run away from home, but he never came looking for me. Not once.
Every time, I was the one who gave in first, who apologized first.
This was probably the difference between love and not loving.
“Those are all in the past.” Mason’s voice pulled me back from my memories.

Then he said: “Elodie, let’s go to the beach barbecue later. I remember you really like barbecue.”
Before I could speak, the woman standing next to Nova interrupted again.
“Mason, you remember wrong. Nova’s the one who loves barbecue. You two used to take me along all the time.”
I responded flatly: “You all go ahead. I don’t like barbecue.”
Only six days left.
I didn’t want to act with them anymore.
On my way to the restaurant, I got a call from my sister.
“The wedding dress and formal wear are all ready. They’ve been sent to my villa in Spain. In six days, you’ll wait there for the Ford family to come.”
“Okay.”
After breakfast, I spent most of my time in the hotel. In the afternoon, I went for a walk on the beach alone.
I stood on a reef near the shore, watching the sea under the sunset.
I don’t know how much time passed, but the waves grew bigger, constantly crashing against the rocks.
Just as I was about to leave, Nova appeared beside me out of nowhere.
“Miss Elodie, you already know I never lost my memory, right?”
I looked at her with some confusion, then heard her continue: “After getting back together with Mason, I realized I
can’t live without him.”
‘So what are you trying to say?” I asked.
‘I have to stay by his side.”
Nova emphasized.
I replied without hiding anything: “Don’t worry, I don’t want him anymore. You two can live happily ever after.”
But Nova clearly didn’t believe me.
‘Mason isn’t just a pilot–he’s also the heir to the Tilden family fortune. You’d be so kind as to just hand him over to me like that?”
‘Between the two of us, only one can stay alive by his side.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she suddenly pushed me hard.

I was stunned for a moment, instinctively dodging to the side.
But Nova, carried by momentum, rushed off the reef and fell into the sea with a splash.
