“You can’t just drag me to see people I don’t want to see in the future, okay?” I asked him.
He put the cup on the table: “Mm.”
My mood immediately improved.
Maybe it was his promise, or maybe it was the chamomile tea.
Then Jasper got into bed.
He turned off the lights but didn’t continue what we had left unfinished earlier.
That was fine–I hadn’t been in the mood anyway, and after a cup of chamomile tea, I felt quite full.

When I opened my eyes again, it was already the next morning.

I got up, washed, and walked out to see servants watering the estate’s plants.
