Chapter 2
Mason looked stunned. I was still jealous last night–how could I be so generous today?
Maybe he realized he’d gone too far. He said softly, “Thank you.”
A voice from Mason’s friend called out in the distance.
“Mason, we’re moving to the next step.”
Mason didn’t say another word to me. He walked straight toward Nova.
I stood nearby and heard Nova ask: “What’s the next step?”
One of Mason and Nova’s mutual friends deliberately answered in Spanish, “The next step is wedding games. Four years ago, you, Mason, and all of us played them here. Remember?”
Nova’s face instantly turned red.
Everyone started cheering in Spanish.
“Wedding games!”
“Wedding games!”
I asked one of their friends: “This looks exciting. What exactly is the next step?”
He paused, answering without changing expression, “Just playing a little game.”
He added, “Mason and Nova are ancient history. Don’t get the wrong idea.”
Another friend stepped forward and said in Spanish, “Why bother with her? She’s just some tour guide who can’t even understand Spanish.”
The friend replied: “We can’t let Mason’s family situation become a mess. He’s about to marry Nova anyway, so he
won’t have to deal with her anymore.”
I watched this cheerful crowd and spoke softly in Spanish, “Do you really think I’m some clueless fool?”
I didn’t want to watch anymore. I turned and went back to the InterContinental Hotel.
Maybe it was from not sleeping all night, but I fell into a deep sleep on the king–sized bed.
When I woke up again, it was already dark.
I was getting ready to go downstairs for dinner.

Chapter 2
As soon as I stepped out, I saw Mason holding Nova’s hand, surrounded by friends as they returned to the hotel.
Nova waved at me. “Elodie, how come you came back first?”
She even came over and grabbed my arm, acting very intimate.
“Mason proposed to me. They said you’re Mason’s best friend. You’ll bless us, right?”
The friends all felt nervous for Mason.
They all knew I was Mason’s real girlfriend, so when Nova asked this question, they worried I’d get angry and expose everything.
I glanced at Nova indifferently.
Then I met Mason’s anxious gaze and said calmly, “Of course. I wish you both a happy marriage filled with love and joy that lasts a lifetime.”
