Chapter 1
I sat in the hotel lobby the entire night while my boyfriend was upstairs with his ex–girlfriend.
The next morning.
This cold, distant pilot followed Nova out of the hotel like a well–trained puppy, staying close to her heels.
My eyes burned red. I was completely done with him.
I dialed my twin sister’s number.
“Sis, in seven days, let me marry Jasper Ford, the Ford family heir, in your place.”
A surprised voice came through the phone: “The Ford heir? He’s been overseas for years. No one’s even seen what he looks like. Are you sure you want to marry a complete stranger for me?”
I softly hummed in agreement, then spoke slowly: “It’s the engagement our families arranged when we were children. You already have someone you love, so let me do this.”
“But… don’t you have a boyfriend too?”
I took a deep breath: “Not anymore.”
Twin sisters share a connection. My sister didn’t ask more questions, just thanked me.
After hanging up, I walked through the streets of this small Barcelona town, facing the cold wind.
A month ago, Mason’s ex–girlfriend Nova had a car accident and claimed she’d lost her memory.
Mason told me: “The doctor suggested we relive the past together. It might help her recover her memories.”
That’s when I learned my boyfriend had a girl he’d grown up with–and had once loved.
As a woman, I obviously didn’t agree with Mason returning to his old romance.
But Mason said: “If you’re worried, you can come with us and see for yourself.”
Mason was my first love. We’d been together for three years. I didn’t want to let go just like that.
So I followed him to Spain.
For a month, I watched Mason and Nova, along with their mutual friends, relive old memories together.
Then yesterday, I accidentally overheard Nova on the phone: “I never lost my memory. I just wanted to win Mason
Jack.”

I told Mason, but he didn’t believe me. He got angry instead.
“Elodie, can you stop being so jealous? If she and I had a chance, we would’ve gotten married already.”
Then Mason slammed the door and left.
I followed him out, only to see him enter a strange hotel with Nova.
When I came back to my senses, I was already at the beach.
Mason had changed into his pristine white pilot’s uniform and stood face–to–face with Nova.
Their friends gathered around, cheering: “Kiss! Kiss!”
Mason was about to lean down to kiss Nova when he spotted me and froze.
He instinctively let go of Nova’s hand and walked over.
“Where were you last night?”
“I was looking for you.”
I replied word by word.
Mason’s eyes flickered: “You…”
Before he could finish, I interrupted: “Too bad I couldn’t find you. Where were you?”
“I went out to buy some things, then went back to the hotel.” Mason lied without changing expression, secretly breathing a sigh of relief.
Then he added: “I’m planning to have a fake wedding with Nova.”
I froze: “What do you mean?”
Mason’s thin lips parted slightly: “I promised Nova before that I’d give her a grand wedding. I want to keep my promise.”
“This might help her recover her memory.”
Here we go again. Always about her memory.
A cold smile tugged at my lips.
Mason thought I was going to refuse, so he continued: “Once she recovers her memory, I’ll take you home to meet my parents, and then we’ll get married…”
Before he could finish, I agreed.

“Fine.”
Mason was stunned. I looked at him calmly and asked: “Anything else?”
“I’m planning to spend seven days preparing for the wedding. During this time… we should keep our distance, so she doesn’t overthink things.”
I clenched my fists, agreeing without any hesitation.
“Fine.”
