Chapter 67
“Dylie, what’s wrong? Aren’t you happy that Ollie is pregnant?” Morgan finally noticed Dylan’s odd behavior and looked at him questioningly
Dylan tried to force a smile, but he couldn’t muster one. He felt as if a part of his heart was
hollow, and that void was quickly filled with rage.
was already pushing his limits; he simply couldn’t
He clenched the arms of his wheelchair tightly to keep his anger in check. But controlling his anger smile or explain himself.
Olivia glanced at Dylan and feigned shyness, saying, “He’s probably just overwhelmed with excitement about being a dad for the first time. Let him have a moment to himself.”
Morgan laughed heartily. “He usually seems so composed. I didn’t expect your pregnancy to excite him this much.”
Although Morgan’s mood had improved, he was still weak.
After chatting with him for a white, Olivia didn’t want to disturb his rest any further and had Ivan wheel Dylan back to his room. As soon as Olivia had seen him settled, she prepared to leave.
“Don’t go. I need to ask you something,” Dylan called out to her, then turned to Ivan and said, “Leave us alone. Close the door and go far enough that no one can eavesdrop.”
Ivan nodded and promptly exited the room.
Olivia frowned at him. “What do you want to ask?”
Dylan looked at her with a deep, intense gaze. “Were you really the one who saved me eight years ago?”
Olivia sneered, “I’ve told you so many times, and you still don’t believe me. Now that I’ve given up explaining, you come to ask me.
“What’s the point? Just go on thinking it was Chloe who saved you. You two are a perfect match.”
Dylan clenched his fists so hard that his fingernails dug into his palms. “I didn’t believe you before because you had no proof. Everything you said, Chloe knew too, not to mention she had that yellow dress. How could I believe you?
“And the promises we made in that pit? She knew about those, too.
“You said she took your dress after we climbed out, but how would she know what we said down there? With all the evidence pointing to Chloe being the one who saved me, how can I believe you?”
Olivia’s face was expressionless. “You were delirious, repeating things you’d said before. She heard them and naturally knew. I told you, but you didn’t
believe me.”
Dylan was speechless. Olivia had indeed told him, but without any proof, he couldn’t bring himself to believe her.
“Why didn’t you come to me back then? I went to your school to pick up Chloe. Why didn’t you recognize me and come forward?” he asked.
Olivia answered honestly. “Your face was covered in blood and mud. I didn’t see your features clearly and didn’t recognize you. I also didn’t notice you going to the school to find Chloe.”
At that time, Olivia hadn’t paid much attention to things that didn’t concern her and hadn’t been aware that Dylan had visited the school to find Chloe.
Olivia frowned at him. “I still don’t have any proof to show you. So why did you suddenly start to suspect that I was t longer think that the person who owns the yellow dress is your savior?”
Dylan caught the sarcasm in Olivia’s voice, and his face turned pale.
e who saved you? Do you no
After a few seconds, he said coldly, “She couldn’t even carry me on flat ground. How could she possibly have carried me out of such a deep pit?

“Besides, she’s very pessimistic. She’s not like the girl I remember. If it were that girl, she wouldn’t have given up hope of survival withou
“That girl would have carved a path of hope out of a desperate situation. Chloe doesn’t have that kind of spirit. You and that girl are more a
Olivia mocked him. “After all these years, she’s always acted weak and helpless in front of you. Haven’t you ever doubted her?
“I don’t believe that after so many years of being together, you couldn’t tell whether she was strong enough to carry you or not. You used to be so blindly trusting. Why have you suddenly become so smart now?”
Dylan hung his head, left speechless by her retort. ‘Yeah. All these years, I could see that Chloe wasn’t strong and was quite delicate, but I never doubted her. I really was stupid,‘ he thought.
Reflecting on how he had treated Olivia over the years, Dylan felt a tightness in his chest that made it hard to breathe. He had hurt the person he had vowed to repay so deeply.
“I’m sorry.” Dylan forced out, his voice barely audible and weak. His pale, feeble apology couldn’t begin to make up for the pain he had caused her.
“There’s no need to apologize,” Olivia said indifferently.
“From the day you brought a man back to the wedding house and tried to force me to have sex with him, I gave up on you. I transferred that favor to Chloe. You should just continue being with her.”
As soon as Olivia finished speaking, she turned to leave.
Dylan grabbed her hand, looked at her imploringly, his voice trembling and hoarse. “Have an abortion, and let’s start over, okay?
“I won’t care that you’ve been with other men, and I’ll cut ties with Chloe. We can pretend nothing happened and start fresh, okay?”
Olivia shook off his hand and glanced at him coldly. “Stop being unreasonable. Do you want to disappoint Mr. Wilson?”
Dylan said urgently, “I can make you pregnant. Have an abortion and get pregnant with my child.”
Olivia sneered, “Do you think Mr. Wilson has that much time to wait?”
Dylan’s lips moved, but no words came out.
Ignoring him, Olivia turned and walked away. Dylan sat there in his wheelchair, dazed and hollow–eyed, watching Olivia’s retreating figure grow smaller and smaller.
He reached out, but all he could grasp was empty air. He opened his palm, staring at the emptiness there, and then suddenly buried his face in his hands, crying silently, his shoulders shaking violently.
Happiness had been so close, yet he had let her slip away. He had hurt the woman he had wanted to marry more than anyone else badly and pushed her
away.
Dylan suddenly raised his hand and began to slap himself. “Why did this happen? I was always polite to everyone else.
“Why was I so terrible to her? All my worst behavior was directed at the person I wanted to love the most-”
