97 Chapter 97

Betrayed by Blood

Chapter 97

up A black jeep stopped right in front of the pack house, and Lydia stood from where she was talking to the servants. Her eyebrows furrowed at the sight of the car. They weren’t expecting any visitors yet, at least not until the moonlight festival. Lydia walked towards the door, waiting

The jeep’s door opened, and a person stepped out. Their red hair flared in the wind. wearing a black fur coat, a black leather skirt, and large eyeglasses. Beside them, the driver had placed their suitcase. The person stood still, their gaze flickering over the house. They beckoned to some maids working outside to carry their suitcase and then began walking towards the door

Lydia could barely believe her eyes. It was audacious of this person to come here so shamelessly. The person stopped in front of her, ran their hands through their voluminous hair, and slowly pulled off their sunglasses. A small smile appeared on their lips

Kendra,Lydia

out her name, her voice filled with bitterness

Oh, Lydia, I almost didn’t see you there and would’ve just walked right past you,she said, her voice filled with faux sweetness that irritated Lydia

Lydia frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. What are you doing here, Kendra? Your two months aren’t over. Did you think we all just forgot the stunt you pulled? How can you show your face here so-”

Kendra sighed loudly as she touched her temples tenderly, Lydia, pleasekeep it short. I don’t know how much rambling I can handle.”

Lydia balked in disbelief, a sharp scoff leaving her lips. What?”

I know I’m not supposed to be here yet, but what can I do? Martha was murdered, Lydia. She was my favorite maid. I couldn’t just stay back knowing she’d probably be rotting inside some coffin./I had to come and pay my respects one last time,Kend drawled, her eyes glinting with fake tears

Lydia watched as Kendra snimed, taking a handkerchief from her bag and dabbing at the comer of her dry eyes

Lydia rolled her eyes, Spare me the dramatics,Lydia muttered, rolling her eyes. We both know why you’re here, and it’s not out of respect for anyone but yourself

me

Kendra’s whole act dropped instantly, and she shrugged as if she didn’t care. Believe

don’t believe me. I honestly don’t care what you think, Lydia. You always were such a skeptic. You’ve always thought the worst of me. Like you can’t stomach the fact that I have actual feelings and grew a bond with Martha. She helped me in ways you could never imagine. She was a-she paused, sniffling again and of course dabbed her dry

eyes

What’s going on here?Cain’s voice boomed from behind, and Lydia straightened up. She turned to see Cain, Nathan, Gerald, and the new girl, Nora, all of them staring at

the door

Lydia stepped aside, Kendra stepped into the pack, Alpha. She flaunted your rules and came here instead of receiving her punishment fully. It’s not even been two months.Kendra gasped as if her character was being torn apart. She rushed into the house, -stopping right in front of Cain

Kendra gasped dramatically, placing a hand over her chest as if she had been deeply wounded by Lydia’s words. Alpha Cain,” she began, her voice trembling just enough to appear sincere. I know I wasn’t supposed to return yet, but I couldn’t stay away after what happened. Martha was killedmy poor, loyal Martha! She wasn’t just a maid; she was like family to me. How could I not come to honor her memory?”

Cain’s sharp gaze bore into her, his jaw tight as he assessed her theatrics. Kendra stepped closer, almost daring to touch his arm but stopping herself just in time. You have to understand, she pleaded, her tone softening. I didn’t come here to cause trouble. I justI couldn’t sit idly by after such a loss. She was really close-she paused, forcing tears to leak out of her eyes

Lydia rolled her eyes from where she stood. Kendra was really going all out in this drama. She came fully prepared. From the side, Gerald and his daughter stood still, watching it unfold in front of them

By the dining table, Avery stood with a bowl of salad in her hands, her gaze fixed on the scene before her. Selena, standing beside Avery, reached for the bowl in her hands

Hey, I’ll take that,” she said casually, but Avery didn’t respond or even seem to notice. Selena frowned and turned, following Avery’s line of sight. Her lips thinned when she realized whator rather, whohad Avery so transfixed

Kendra burst out crying now, You have to believe me. I know what I did was horrible, but please, Martha was a close friend of mine. I just can’t-She stopped and suddenly leaped into Cain, hugging him as tight as she could as she wailed loudly

Lydia’s eyebrow quirked up; okay, this was even more dramatic than expected

Cain’s jaw tightened, he leaned close to her car and whispered. Drop the act, now. You have two days to get this done. No more, no less.”

Kendra stepped back, the wailing stopping instantly. She sniffled and wiped her eyes again while nodding. Thank you, Alpha. You’re always so fair. She turned back to Lydia, flashing her a quick victorious smirk before addressing Cain again. I’ll make sure I don’t overstay my welcome. She said and looked around, her gaze falling on Nora for a brief second then walked away, the sound of her heels clicking against the floor was the only thing that could be heard

The door clicked shut behind her as Kendra entered her room. She threw her bag onto a nearby couch and fell onto her bed. She burst out laughing, unable to control the way her shoulders shook from the force. Slowly, she stopped laughing, propping

Car from the corner o herself up on her elbows and flicking a stray It was anyway? She

simply perfect. Martha’s death? Who the hell cared about the re

couldn’t do anything right. She could die a thousand times, and Kendra still wouldn’t give a fuck, but hey! At least her death was useful. She could only come back here because of it, so, Thanks for dying, Martha.”
