Chapter 24
Camilla looked back at him and said, “Henric, the fish…”
Even at a time like this, she was still thinking about the fish. Henric smiled helplessly and said, “I caught two”
Yes! We can have fish soup for dinner tonight.”
Camilla’s eyes spotted a figure slowly creeping away. In a cold tone, she said, “You climb one step, and I’ll knock out one of your teeth,”
The wannabe escapee froze, then dropped to the ground, playing dead.
Camilla turned to the cameraman and asked, “Did you call 9111”
“Yes, I did.”
After waiting for about 15 minutes, a group of police officers rushed over. The five thugs were handcuffed and taken away in a police car.
Camilla and Sarah had to go to the police station to make a statement, and Henric and the cameraman went with them.
Camilla finished her statement and left the interrogation room. It was already 2:15 pm, and since she had acted in self–defense, she was free to go after giving her statement.
Walking up to Henric, she said weakly, “Let’s go, I’m starving. Sarah isn’t done yet, but we can go back first.”
As soon as they left the police station, Camilla remembered they had come in a police car. Looking at Henric, she said, “We’re not walking back, are we? Cameraman, can you navigate? How far is it from here to Springridge?”
“Don’t worry, Camilla. Ned arranged for a car to pick us up. It’ll be here in a bit.”
Camilla lifted her hand and made a heart with her fingers towards the camera. “Thank you, Ned.”
Seeing the cameraman standing shirtless under the sun, Camilla felt a twinge of guilt.
A few minutes later, the car arrived. As they got in, Camilla looked at the bucket by her feet and felt relieved. “You guys are our catch today.”
Henric closed his eyes and covered his forehead. When they went to the police station, Camilla was afraid the fish would be stolen, so she put the bucket in the police car.
Lori saw them come back and exclaimed, “You’re back! I left food for you, I’ll go heat it up.”
“Thank you, Lori. You’re the best,” Camilla said, touched that she had left food for her.
The staff briefly explained the fishpond incident to them before but didn’t go into detail
Kate pulled Camilla aside and looked her up and down. “I heard you guys ran into some thugs. Are you okay?”
Camilla waved her hand. T’m fine. They’re the ones who are in trouble.”
Kate asked, “Really?”
Camilla smiled playfully. “The show’s over. Look it up online, see for yourself.”
Alter dinner, Camilla asked, “Lori, do we have enough food? I’m beat and don’t want to work this afternoon.”
Lori replied, “Today, Kate and I went to cut the grass and got two pounds of pork. With these two fish, we can eat until tomorrow.”
Camilla glanced at Ned and said, “Then we can just chill until the end of the show. How awesome!”

Chapter 24
He stayed silent.
Camilla was about to go and rest upstairs.
But Henric’s cold voice sounded from behind, “Don’t forget to take your medicine.”
“I’m already better, I won’t take it,” Camilla replied before quickly running back to her room:
Inside the room, Maria was sleeping with her hands on her stomach. Her hand was half the size it was yesterday when it swelled up from the wasp stings.
Camilla grabbed her pajamas and went to wash up.
While she was sound asleep, she was shaken awake.
“Earthquake? Is it an earthquake?” She sat up, looking around in confusion.
Kate held Camilla’s face, making Camilla look towards her. “It’s not an earthquake. Someone is downstairs looking for you.”
“Looking for me? Is Lucas looking to play games with me?” Camilla asked.
Kate replied, “No.”
Wearing a set of SpongeBob pajamas, Camilla followed Kate downstairs in a daze.
As they stepped onto the corridor, a wom
a woman’s voice sounded, “Mom and Dad, this sister saved me.”
Sarah’s father said, “Thank you for saving my daughter. Our savior.”
Sarah’s father knelt down with his daughter and wife, kowtowing to Camilla. Many villagers who had come along with them also stood behind them.
Camilla looked at the three people kowtowing to her. Her previously confused mind became clear in an instant. She couldn’t handle this!
Walking quickly towards them, she knelt down and said, “Please go
get up, this is all too much.””
Sarah’s mother cried and said through tears and snot, “You deserve it. We only have one daughter. If anything happened to her, how would we go on living? if it wasn’t for you, that creep would have succeeded today.”
The villagers all chimed in, “That creep has been causing trouble in our village, relying on his status as the mayor’s son.”
Camilla pulled them up, saying, “It was just a small favor. If anyone else saw it, they would have done the same for Sarah.”
At this point, Sarah’s father handed Camilla some money. “This is just a small token of our gratitude. Thank you.”
Camilla squeezed the money, and her heart trembled. But she immediately pushed it back. “I can’t accept it, please take it back.”
Sarah’s father insisted, and the two went back and forth.
Seeing his stubbornness, Camilla deliberately put on a stern face and said, “If you keep this up, I’m going to get angry.”
This move was effective. Henric walked slowly to Camilla’s side and said, “If you really want to thank her, you can give her two chicken legs.”
Sarah’s father was incredulous. “Two chicken legs?
*Two chicken legs is no show of sincerity. At least we should give her a sheep.”
Camilla nodded eagerly while saying, “That sounds great.”
Sarah’s father was stunned.

Chapter 24
Camilla was surrounded by villagers, who kept praising her. At first, it was bearable, but as time passed, it felt like there were more than a dozen flies buzzing in her ear,
In the end, it was Henric who rescued her
As it was time to cook, the villagers slowly dispersed.
Camilla sat in the living room for a white, feeling bored.
She then ran outside to pick some flowers, clicking away.
“This one is really beautiful,” Camilla
lla said as she t
las she tucked a freshly cut pale purple flower into her hair,
Suddenly, a harsh voice shattered the peace.
“Did you hurt my son?”
Camilla looked up and saw a heavily made–up face, which couldn’t hide the marks of time even though several pounds of powder were applied.
Standing beside her was a black w
woman who said, “It’s her, Marry. I made sure of it.”
Camilla got to her feat slowly and wondered, “I hit that bastard, and now his mother is coming after me?”
Marry thought of the terrible sight of her son in the afternoon and was filled with anger. Taking two steps forward, she raised her hand and went to slap Camilla
Camilla accurately caught her wrist, and with a firm shake, Marry was thrown back a few steps.
“Bitch, how dare you resist? Do you know who I am!” Marry shouted.
The commotion here startled the people in the roo
room
Camilla crossed her arms and looked at the woman who was shouting, “Yes, I do. I hit some asshole this morn! door
The woman beside Marry took over. “Marry, she just called you an asshole.”
“Shut up! Do I need you to remind me?” Marry fiercely glared at the woman who had just spoken.

Camilla sneered, “With his two–inch thing, even a dog would shake its head.”
“You bitch! Today, I must tear your mouth apart,” Marry said as she rushed towards Camilla with her tooth bared and claws outstretched.
Camilla was just about to dodge when a force pulled her to the side, and the next second, she fell into a broad and warm embrace.
Henric’s eyes were cold, and his tone was devoid of any warmth as he said, “Get lost!”
Marry was intimidated by Henric’s gaze, and her hand was frozen in mid–air
Lori, holding a frying pan, pointed at Marry and said, “If you don’t leave now, we’ll call 911. We’re live–streaming right now, and the whole country is watching your actions”
Marry shot Camilla a fierce glare and then left with reluctance
