Somehow, the two of them had started coordinating perfectly.
Julian was quite pleased with Jackson’s cautious deference toward him.

Thinking about it made his mood sour again.

Jackson was surprised, even a little stunned.
He hadn’t expected Julian to care enough to comment on something like that.
A while back, it would’ve been unimaginable for Julian to say anything so casual or considerate.
Their conversation ended on a light note, and Julian left feeling satisfied.
Having a subordinate like this made everything easier–less worry and time wasted.
He didn’t need to micromanage anything.
Just give the order, and if there was anything too tricky to decide, they’d ask him directly.
That was the ideal setup.
