Sebrina and Blaze shift behind a rock and put on the clothes that the omegas were carrying for them. Blaze wants to face his friend of years, Donovan, in human form. They went to school together and played football together. They went to the same university and were friends for a long time. Blaze was there when Donovan met his mate Linda in university, and he knows how much Donavan loved Linda. He knew Donovan as a strong Alpha when they took over the packs from their fathers. Blaze was at Donavan and Linda’s Alpha and Luna ceremonies. Blaze is sad to see his friend in so much pain that he turned into everything he despised. Blaze walks out from behind the rock. Donovan and his wolves are still standing in the same spot when Blaze returns in human form. The Crimson Moon Pack’s Warriors were still in wolf form, waiting for the command of their Alpha to attack.
Florence is in a panic. She does not want Blaze to kill Donovan, but she knows that rogues are the enemies, and Blaze will attack the wolf who grabbed her. So Florence gets in front of Donovan. She does not want him to be her mate, and they can sort that part out later, but she also does not want him dead. Donovan pushes her aside and walks over to Blaze. If it was a day before and he did not kidnap this she–wolf, he would be happy to die at the hands of Blaze, his once best friend. Donovan does not know why he feels so alive again, and he looks down at the rags he is wearing. What has become of him? It is as if his eyes have opened. He feels ashamed and looks at the rogues he hung out with since Linda’s death. What would Linda think of him if she saw him like this?
“What in the name of the Moon Goddess did you do to yourself, Donovan?” Blaze asks as he looks at his friend.
“I know. I have become everything I once despised, but I lost Linda, my fated mate, and it was hard on me,” Donovan says, ashamed.
“You grabbed my sister and kidnapped her! I can not let something like this go unpunished. You let your pack down, and they are leaderless! I had to look after them, praying to the Moon Goddess every day that you would come to your senses! I can not believe you are the same proud Alpha I grew up with, and that was my best friend,” Blaze says. Donovan looks shattered. Every word Blaze said was accurate. It hit him harder than he thought. He knows he will have to get out of this predicament or die here as a rogue in disgrace.
“I grabbed your sister because she is my second chance, mate,” Donovan says. Florence wants to say something, but she knows that Donovan will die if she does. Blaze looks at Florence. She nods and looks away. She feels ashamed to have a mate looking like this. Although he is in rags, at least he looks clean.
“Kill the other rogues, but leave this one as he is not a rogue, but an Alpha,” Blaze orders his warriors. He calls one of his omegas and tells him to bring Donovan clean clothes. He needs to save his friend tonight before letting his brothers know Florence is safe. Florence looks on as the warriors of the Crimson Moon Pack jump into action and rip the rogues apart. They had no chance against the Crimson Moon Pack’s warriors. They died fast. Not even one survived. Donovan went behind a rock to get dressed in some of Blaze’s clothing. As he comes back, Blaze looks at him and Florence.
“Accept her as your mate. Her name is Florence Walker, and Florence, if you want to save your mate today, you better accept him as your mate. His name is Donovan Gordon,” Blaze says. Sebrina is looking on in amusement. Her Alpha can be so unromantic sometimes. Donovan looks at Florence for the first time. She is beautiful. Florence has amber eyes and ash–blond hair. She is not Linda, though. Does he have a choice? He

knows his pack needs him. He looks at Florence, standing there looking vulnerable and turns to her. He does not know if he can do it. It feels like he will betray Linda, his fated mate! Sebrina knows she will have to step in. She can not let this Alpha die today because of his first mate that died.
“How long has Linda been dead?” Sebrina asks out of the blue.
“One year, three months and twenty days,” Donovan answers, sounding sad.
“Her spirit will not rest until you are happy again. Do you think Linda would want you to go through life being unhappy and live as a rogue? Do you think she wants you to die a dishonoured death as a rogue?” Sebrina
asks.
“What do you mean her spirit will not rest? She is dead, and she is resting in peace. She became one with nature again,” Donovan says.
“Hmm, she is looking down on you, and she can see your suffering. But she does not want that! She wants to see you laugh, love and have pups one day. The Moon Goddess gave you a second chance at happiness. Are you going to throw that back into her face? Do you think the Moon Goddess give every wolf a second chance, mate? No, she only gives those who deserve it a second change mate, and if a mate dies and sees her partner suffer, they will plead with the Moon Goddess to give their mate a new mate to make them happy,” Sebrina says. She is making it up as she goes along, but she believes it can be true.
“I will accept Florence as my mate,” Donovan says, but he is not convinced that Linda asked the Moon Goddess to give him another mate. Linda was not like that. She was selfish in her love for him and very jealous. Nevertheless, she was his Luna, and he still loved her as she loved him. He only takes this she–wolf as his mate to save his pack and return to them as their Alpha. He does feel alive again, but he does not
think it has anything to do with Florence. He feels it is because he saw his old friend Blaze again and realised he has been selfish in his grief and forgot to be an Alpha to his pack.
“I, Donovan Gordon, Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, accept you as my Luna and mate, Florence Walker,”
Donovan says. He feels his bond with Linda breaking, but he will forever keep Linda in his heart.
“I, Florence Walker, accept you as my Alpha and mate, Donovan Gordon,” Florence says. She feels happy as
she thinks Sebrina’s talk with Donovan worked. Donovan takes her in his arms and marks her. Florence
marks him as soon as he finishes. He has to keep up the appearances in front of Blaze and Sebrina. Florence
will only become a member of the Silver Moon Pack after the Luna ceremony, but she is marked, and Olaf
can not kill her mate now as it will make her want to die, and she may turn rogue. Blaze is relieved that the
two are now mates and his friend will be safe from his brothers. He mind–link Olaf and calls Vincent on his
phone to tell them he found Florence safely and that Donovan Gordon put on an act to save her as she is his
fated mate. Olaf and the Crimson Moon warriors reached them first, and when he saw Donovan Gordon
dressed neatly, he relaxed. Vincent shows up, and he is not so convinced. He had had trouble with Donovan
and his rogues for a few weeks now.
“So you are not a rogue?” Vincent asks.
“I am the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack,” Donovan says, not wanting to explain himself. The Silver Moon Pack and Blaze and his Crimson Moon Pack kept the disappearance of the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack a secret so no one would bother them. Everyone thought Donovan did not go out in public as he was still sad about losing his mate.
“The Luna ceremony will be held tonight at the Silver Moon Pack, and you are all invited,” Donovan says. He takes Florence’s hand and starts walking away. Donovan is in a hurry to get to his pack. He misses them. He

knows they will be pleased to see him with a new Luna. He knows his pack did not like Linda much as she
was bossy, and when a she–wolf looked his way, she would make them pay. But, he loved Linda, and she had
her flaws as everyone else did. She was with him on the battlefields that day because she did not believe him
when he said he would fight the Dark Moon Pack. She wanted to be next to him wherever he went, and
although he tried to explain to her that he could not cheat on her without her knowing, she did not believe
him. She would fight with him if he talked to another she–wolf, but he knows that it was because she loved
him so much. He leaves Florence’s hand as soon as they are out of sight of her family.
He let down the shield for the first time in months and mind–linked his pack. However, he never broke the bond with his pack when he left, as he wanted to come back after he got over Linda’s death. The pack is
happy to hear from their Alpha, and they send a car to pick him up on the highway. Florence was too afraid to
talk to him as he had cooled down towards her. He did not hold her hand as soon as they left the sight of her brothers and their warriors. Florence can feel there is something not right between them. Her wolf also feels rejected as his wolf has not talked a word to her yet. Finally, an SUV shows up, and Donovan gets in. Florence stands at the roadside, unsure if she should get in or not.
“What are you waiting for? Get in!” Donovan says coldly, and Florence gets in. She knows now that Donovan used her to get out of certain death, and he has not forgotten his first luna. He still loves Linda, and she is
nothing in his eyes.
“Who is she, Alpha?” The driver of the SUV asks.
“Your new Luna,” Donovan answers, sort and sweet.
“Welcome to our pack, Luna,” The driver says, and he feels happy. Florence smiles at him, but he can sense
something is off between their Alpha and new Luna.
“Thank you. I can not wait to settle in, in my new pack,” Florence says kindly. Donovan stares out the window
at the bright sunlight. It was almost noon now. He is glad he grabbed the she–wolf sitting next to him this
morning. He would not have come to his senses if he did not see Blaze this morning. He will keep Florence
around for as long as he wants her to stay. He has not decided what to do about her yet, but she can not take
the place of Linda in his heart. Donovan will never allow it. His wolf is quiet as he gets used to having a mate
again. Duke, Donovan’s wolf, feels complete again, but he knows Donovan still loves Linda, or he may think
- so. He will have to be careful when he talks to Florence’s wolf. Petra. Florence’s wolf has tried to speak to
him, but he ignores her as he does not want Donovan to become angry. He did not like Zena, Linda’s wolf,
much. She was always trying to dominate him, and he felt that, although they were mates and he missed her
when she died, she was not meant for Donovan and him.
They reach the pack, and the pack cheers when they see their beloved Alpha return. They are all happy to
hear that he got a second chance, mate. They hope she is better to him than Linda was. In the beginning,
Linda was not evil, and they loved her, but after a few months, she changed and became very jealous and
anxious when a she–wolf came near Donovan. They did not know what had happened to her, but they tolerated her because she made their Alpha happy. Florence looks around and sees the pack is well kept. The packhouse is lovely and clean, but the decorations are not to her taste. She wants to make a few changes. She looks at her mate, but he walks into a study and closes the door behind him. He has not said a word to her since telling her to get into the SUV. Florence feels sad and lonely, but although everyone may think she is soft and kind, she can fight for what she wants if she needs to.
