“Changed your mind?” she asked, a triumphant smirk on her face.
“Just a reminder. Angel. You and Hazel need to be out of the house in two days. Or I’m changing the locks.
“Where are we supposed to live?” Hazel shricked.
“Not my problem. Go live with your real father.”
They stormed out, their faces bruised and battered.
I laughed until my sides hurt.
They didn’t get very far. I grabbed my phone and dialed 911.
“I’d like to report a robbery.”
Aunt Jean turned back, rushing towards me, trying to grab my phone.
“You little bitch! You’re calling the cops?!”
I was a black belt in Taekwondo. Taking down a middle–aged woman was child’s play.
I looked at the men she’d brought with her. “You guys leaving? Or are you going to be accessories to a crime?”
They glanced at each other, then hurried away.
Aunt Jean’s bravado vanished.
“Cecilia, we’re family! There’s no need to involve the police! I’ll give you the money back!”
The money hadn’t even been in her account for ten minutes.
“You should have just asked nicely, Angel,” I said, counting the money, then putting my phone away.
“Of course… of course… But the police..”
“Don’t worry,” I said, patting her shoulder, my eyes glinting.
The cops arrived within minutes.
“It’s a misunderstanding, officers,” Aunt Jean said, rushing towards them. “We were just playing around.”
They looked at me.
“Oh, it’s not robbery,” I said, my voice sweet. “It’s theft.”
I showed them the security footage of Aunt Jean stealing my antique.

Chapter 6
Aunt Jean’s face turned white. “Cecilia, I can explain! I was just… I thought it was dirty. I was going to take it hom
and clean it for you!”
I shook my head.
“Nope. Not listening.”
