relationship with Reginald?”
Adelaide thought Finley was really bored out of his mind.
She ignored the following messages, only replying with thank
you.
The next day, Adelaide woke up to a message from Reginald,
telling her to finish breakfast and head straight to Rosecliff
Manor. He also mentioned that there were still people from the
Pierce family waiting outside the Sterling Estates.
Adelaide mentally cursed Finley again.
After having breakfast with Teresa, she went to Rosecliff
Manor through the small gate.
The door was already open for her.
She tiptoed in and Draven came out of the kitchen with
breakfast, “Ms. Pierce, good morning! Have you had breakfast?”

She glanced inside and saw Reginald already sitting at the
dining table having breakfast.
“Yeah, I already ate, Mr. Thorton, Draven, good morning.”
“Draven, get her some tableware,” Reginald said.
“I’ve eaten!” Adelaide said busily.
“Then just stay with me a little longer,” Reginald said again,
“Come over here.”
Draven winked at her with a smile, Adelaide had to sit quietly
in the seat Reginald had just pointed to.
“Did you sleep well last night?”
Reginald was even gentler today than before.
Adelaide almost spaced out for a moment, “Great.”
“No nightmares?”
“No,” Adelaide understood what Reginald meant by that
question, “even though last night was quite exciting, it’s okay, I
didn’t have any stress reaction, so Mr. Thorton doesn’t need to
worry!“”
“Oh really? Looks like I prepared the hush money for nothing
then,” Reginald said casually as he ate.

The words “comfort money” hit Adelaide’s forehead directly,
she stared at Reginald with wide eyes, thinking she misheard,
and asked, “Comfort money?”
“Well,” Reginald smirked, “since you’re fine, there’s no need for
reassurance. It’s clear that Ms. Pierce has excellent resilience.”
“……and so on.” The next second, Adelaide clutched her chest,
looking slightly pained, “Actually, Mr. Thorton, I lied to you just
now. When I woke up this morning, my clothes were all soaked
with sweat. Now thinking back to those scenes from last night, I

Reginald propped up his face, watching her poor acting with
interest.

Adelaide thought she had overacted, after all, what she really
wanted now was money.

serious, just a little bit scary afterwards.”

much?”

Reginald put down his phone and placed the new phone and
tablet that had been prepared next to her. “Brand new, switch it
out.”
“The key is I didn’t get hurt last night.” Adelaide really feels it.
“I was really hurt, money can’t make up for it at all.” Reginald’s
dark eyes turned cold, his attitude suddenly becoming serious.
Adelaide was caught off guard by his gaze, her heart skipped a
beat, she looked down and focused on her new phone and
tablet, “Thanks, Mr. Thorton.”
