Through the phone came Kaelen’s roar:
“I will NOT get an amputation! Don’t listen to that despicable Omega Elira’s nonsense–she’s hoping
I’ll die!”
“Grace said this is just the bone restructuring process! In a few days, I’ll be completely healed!”
Mrs. Velmoran was practically sobbing as she begged me: “Miss Elira… I truly don’t know who else
to turn to. Even the surgeons aren’t confident. Please, come take a look…”
Unable to refuse, I agreed. Theron, who hadn’t left yet, offered to drive me to the hospital.
Sitting in the car, Theron opened his mouth, hesitated, then finally asked:
‘Are you going to save him?”
I opened the car window, letting the cold wind hit my face.
‘No.”
‘I just want to witness, with my own eyes, how the wolf who once cost me my entire life is gradually destroyed by the very person he trusted.”
Theron’s hand paused on the steering wheel.
‘Elira, you hate him?”
‘As far as I know, there’s no grudge between you two.”
I twisted my lips into a smile.
‘He owes me a life.”
With that, I closed my eyes to rest.
Seeing I didn’t want to discuss it further, Theron didn’t press the issue.
At the hospital, all the doctors had been driven out of the room by Kaelen.

Mrs. Velmoran waited outside the room, her eyes red.
“Miss Elira, could you please try to convince Kaelen to agree to the surgery?”
“It’s not that I don’t want to help, but I’m the last person Kaelen wants to see right now. Whatever I say, he’ll think I’m trying to harm him.”
I sighed deeply.
“Doesn’t he trust Grace completely? Why not have her convince him?”
At the mention of Grace’s name, Mrs. Velmoran’s face twisted with anger and hatred.
But with no other options, she called her assistant to bring Grace to the hospital.
Grace knelt before Kaelen, crying pitiful tears.
“Kaelen, are you in pain? I truly don’t understand why this happened. My medicine should have worked perfectly.”
Kaelen raised his hand to comfort her, but the slightest movement pulled at his lower limbs, instantly draining the color from his face.
After the sharp pain subsided, he spoke:
“Grace, tell me, my legs don’t need amputation, right? This is just the bone restructuring process you
mentioned, isn’t it?”
Grace glanced at Kaelen’s blood–soaked legs, recalling the warnings from Mrs. Velmoran and the
doctors.
She bit her lower lip, her voice trembling.
‘Kaelen, you should listen to the doctors. Your legs… they really might not be salvageable…”
His face instantly contorted.
Kaelen stared into Grace’s eyes.
“Grace, do you realize what you’re saying? Didn’t you absolutely promise me you could heal my legs?”

“I’ve been diligently applying the medicine exactly as you instructed. Why the sudden need for
amputation?”
Grace couldn’t meet Kaelen’s questioning gaze. Her expression froze, her fingers gripping the edge of the bed tightly.
Seeing her like this, disbelief flooded Kaelen’s eyes.
“So it’s true what Elira said–you’re the one who reduced me to this state? Grace, why?”
“It wasn’t me, Kaelen! I didn’t harm you!”
“It was her–Elira! She must have tampered with my medicine!”
She stood up, pointing at me accusingly.
“You must have sabotaged my medicine, Elira! You just couldn’t stand seeing Kaelen and me become mates, so you made sure we wouldn’t win.”
“Elira, how could you be so vicious? Just because Kaelen refused to hold a bonding ceremony with you, you decided to kill him?”
I looked completely baffled.
“Grace, accusations require evidence. Since the day of our bet, I haven’t even stepped through the Velmoran family’s doors. How could I have tampered with your medicine?”
“Besides, I never once said I wanted to become Kaelen’s mate. That was all your assumption. It was the Velmoran family elders who said whoever saved him might be Kaelen’s destined mate.”
But Grace wouldn’t let it go.
“Everyone knows that as soon as you returned to the pack from the Moonshadow family territory and heard about Kaelen’s paralysis, you rushed to the Velmoran family without even going home first. What more explanation do you need to give!”
