After taking a shower, Adelaide lay on the bed, staring at the
ceiling and daydreaming.

at the kitchen door staring at her in a strange way.
“Adelaide?”
The crunching sound of biting ice suddenly stopped, Adelaide looked up abruptly, with a mix of surprise and bewilderment, staring at the tall figure in front of her.
Reginald’s face went blank for a few seconds. If he hadn’t seen with his own eyes that she was putting ice in her mouth, just by hearing the sound, he would have thought she was biting
bones.
“What’s wrong with you?” Reginald asked in surprise, his face filled with concern as he hurried over and crouched in front of

her. “Why are you eating ice cubes? Are you running a fever?”
In the middle of the conversation, he reached out and touched
Adelaide’s forehead.
The temperature was normal.
Then he was even more puzzled, and could only come to one
conclusion, “Is eating ice cubes in the middle of the night your
little quirk?”
The ice in her mouth had melted into water. Adelaide
swallowed twice and shook her head, “No, it’s smoke coming out
of my throat.”
“I’m thirsty, what are you eating ice cubes for?!” Reginald took
away the box of ice cubes. “It’s fall now, Adelaide.”
“Wait, wait, wait.” Adelaide acted quickly to stop Reginald from
putting the box back in the fridge. She sheepishly explained, “I
overdid it with the late–night duck soup, drinking water didn’t
help, so I thought I’d have some ice cubes.”
After hearing that, Reginald couldn’t help but recall dinner.
Because Adelaide said the chicken soup was so good, the butler kept serving it to her. If he remembers correctly, she drank half
of that pot of chicken soup all by herself.
It’s not Adelaide’s fault, she always loved soup, plus she couldn’t

“I respect you,” Reginald admitted, “but eating ice cubes in the
middle of the night is not good for your health.”
“No worries, I’ll just have two more pieces,” Adelaide reached
out to grab two more, but Reginald had already put the box
back in the fridge.
“Wait outside, I’ll figure something out for you.”
With that, he naturally walked towards the shelf where the
ingredients were placed.
Adelaide was still staring at the fridge.
