Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
While Adrian was busy planning his so called “engagement of the century,” Blake and I were honestly just living our best lives.
Our little house only had three residents–me, Blake, and a lifestyle assistant named Amy.
Every day felt like a staycation: lazy mornings in bed, gourmet meals, vintage films-
and the nights… well, let’s just say they’re not fit for public discussion.
At first, I tried to resist, Told myself not to get swept away by lust or comfort.
But Blake? He had this uncanny way of breaking down resistance.
Once he pulled me into bed, I couldn’t fight it anymore.
By the third night–right before Adrian’s grand proposal to Lillian-
Blake was… especially determined.
Almost like he was trying to prove something.
Let’s just say, by morning, I was barely able to stand.
Half–asleep and dazed, I heard his voice low against my ear.
“Evelyn… you’re really going to watch his proposal?”
Too tired to think, I nodded.
“He invited me. Might as well watch the show play out.”
His arms tightened around me.
After a pause, he gave a quiet, almost bitter laugh.
“So you’re planning to change your mind last–minute, huh? No big deal. I’ll return you with interest. Being your husband for three days wasn’t a total
loss.”
I blinked, suddenly wide awake.
And for the first time in this life, I remembered–In our last lifetime, after I married Adrian, Blake left everything behind.Threw himself into weapons engineering and military defense.
In a few years, he became a legend in his field… But he never married.
He died in a high–risk test accident.
Back then, I never knew, Never understood.
Now, I finally did.
“… Blake,” I whispered, “do you… like me?”
He didn’t move, Didn’t breathe.
He replied calmly, “Would you give up Adrian if I said
es
I laughed softly.”So this is how you show love? By teasing me, annoying me–acting like a childish little brat?”
He grumbled like a boy who just got caught red–handed.

Faked His Death. Married His Enemy. Now He’s Begging
Chapter 11
I mean when we were kids, you only had eyes for Adrian. If I didn’t stir things up, you wouldn’t even look at me
Then he added with mock warning,
“And if you ever talk about leaving me? I’m writing to your dad and telling him you abuse your poor, innocent husband.”
I burst out laughing.
Truth is, he’s never once hurt me.
Even when I was crushed by Adrian’s coldness, Blake always found a way to cheer me up.
He hid his feelings behind sarcasm and pranks, but he never forced me–never crossed a line.
Unfortunately, in our last life, I never saw what he truly felt.
Never gave him a chance.
This time, I looked straight into his eyes–those warm, mischievous eyes that always had a spark.
“I’ve let Adrian go,” I told him seriously.“This wasn’t a fake marriage. It wasn’t out of spite. At first, I chose you because I didn’t want to choose him. But now… I know exactly what I want. Blake–I like you too.”
He froze.
Like I’d just dropped a meteor on his chest.
He’d liked me since we were kids. But he knew I only had eyes for Adrian.
He tried everything–silly tricks, wild ideas–just to get my attention.
And as we grew up, he accepted it: that I would never look at him that way.
That I would never pick him.
That’s why he never planned to come to the wedding.
He couldn’t bear to watch me marry someone else.
But fate played a cruel joke…
Or maybe a perfect one.
He walked in, and somehow, he walked out as my husband.
Now, I had just said the one thing he never thought he’d hear.
It took him a long time to speak.
Then, softly:“I was ready to leave the moment you said I do.‘
Fly abroad. Disappear. Build a legacy in my own world, So you’d always remember me as that brilliant, untouchable friend.”
My throat tightened.
I almost couldn’t breathe.
So that tragic ending I remembered…
He’d already planned it.
But this lifetime-
we didn’t miss our chance.
We finally found our way back to each other.
