Chapter 6
“Help-”
Nova’s cry for help caught the attention of people nearby.
Mason dove straight into the sea, ignoring the waves to rescue her.
Once they reached shore, his eyes were red with worry and tension.
“Nova!”
Nova’s face was pale as she slowly opened her eyes and looked at him.
“Mason, Elodie told me she’s your real girlfriend, and everything you’ve done has been to deceive me. Is that true?”
“Of course not.”
Mason was stunned and quickly denied it.
Nova shot me a triumphant look, then said with a sob: “After the wedding, let’s go back home and register our marriage immediately, okay? I want us to become legal husband and wife so no one else can interfere.”
Everyone around looked at Mason.
watched as Mason gently kissed Nova’s hand and answered without hesitation, solemnly:
‘Yes, we’ll register our marriage as soon as we get back home.”
Nova immediately smiled and hugged him tightly.
don’t know how I made it back to the hotel.
Half an hour later, Mason returned too.
le pushed open the door to see me sitting on the edge of the bed, completely lost.
eeing me vulnerable for the first time, Mason’s heart tightened with guilt.
Elodie, I’ll stay here with you tonight. I won’t go to Nova.”
snapped back to reality, noticing his clothes were still wet. I was about to ask if he wanted to change when he

“But you shouldn’t have told Nova the truth.”
The truth?
I looked directly at him and said: “I didn’t say anything.”
“Are you still going to lie now?” Mason blurted out.
Lie?
I looked at him in disbelief.
People who hurt you really won’t just hurt you once.
Maybe feeling his words were too harsh, Mason added:
“Elodie, just wait five more days. Everything will be over in five days.”
Wait…
I wouldn’t wait anymore. In five days we’d go our separate ways. I’d never act with Mason again.
Seeing I wasn’t speaking, Mason pulled out an exquisite gift box from behind his back.
“A gift for you. Do you like it?”
This was the first time he’d ever given me a gift.
I suddenly wanted to know what he’d prepared for me.
Opening the box, it was a pair of size 37 high heels.
In that moment, I laughed.
‘Mason, I’m a size 36.”
‘Love is profound because of differences,” I said softly. “Recently, I saw your past with your ex–girlfriend–different fresh flowers every day, size 37 high heels, brand–name lipstick, custom necklaces and bracelets…”
I pointed to my empty wrists and neck and said clearly: “Actually, everyone longs to be someone’s favorite. I’m no exception.”
Mason fell silent.
Only now did he realize that despite being together for three years, he didn’t really know me.
I continued: “You’re tired too. Go rest.”

Mason stood up and said: “I’ll have someone buy another pair. Wait for me.”
After he left, I closed the door.
That night, Mason didn’t come back.
t
I didn’t wait for him either, going to sleep alone.
The next day.
I went to the restaurant for breakfast and heard Mason and Nova’s friends chatting in Spanish.
“Tell us, does Mason like his current girlfriend, or does he love Nova more?”
“Nova, of course. To tell you the truth, Mason has known Nova recovered her memory for a while. He’s just using her ‘amnesia‘ as an excuse to do all the things he’s always wanted to do with Nova.”
