Chapter 6
Grace’s face turned ghastly pale, her voice trembling uncontrollably.
“How could this happen? Kaelen was standing just moments ago…”
Mrs. Velmoran, having received the news, rushed into the banquet hall. Seeing Kaelen lying in a pool
of blood, her face instantly turned paper–white. She delivered a stinging slap across Grace’s face.
“Grace, you repeatedly promised me you could heal Kaelen. Look what you’ve done to him!”
“Guards, lock Grace up! If she escapes, I’ll demote her entire family to Rogues!”
With those words, two bodyguards seized Grace’s arms and dragged her from the hall.
Grace struggled desperately, trembling in terror, her voice distorted: “I… I really saw him recover!
He was standing just now!”
“Kaelen, help me! I don’t know what happened, but I never meant to harm you!”
“You can’t do this to me! Kaelen! Say something!”
But Kaelen, with his wolf spirit shattered and his mind clouded, could barely save himself, let alone
her.
One of the guards delivered a swift chop to Grace’s neck, knocking her unconscious before dragging
her away.
Mrs. Velmoran stared helplessly at Kaelen’s legs.
The werewolves in the hall backed away–not one dared approach.
Mrs. Velmoran turned to me, her voice shaking: “Miss Elira… is there any way to save him?”
I gently shook my head. “His wolf is dead and cannot be brought back. Kaelen needs immediate amputation, or he won’t survive.”
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Velmoran immediately fainted.
Kaelen suddenly lifted his head, his pupils blazing red: “I refuse! I, Kaelen, will never become a

cripple!”
His voice was hoarse, nearly roaring from his chest: “Elira, you incompetent quack, you just want revenge on me! You want me to lose my Alpha status! I won’t let you succeed!”
“I dare anyone to take me to the hospital!”
I laughed coldly.
“Revenge on you? You think too highly of yourself. You know exactly what medicine Grace gave
you.”
“Kaelen, whether you live or die means nothing to me.”
“You’re like rotting bones–who would want an Alpha like you leading a Pack?”
My inner wolf snorted disdainfully.
With that, I turned to leave.
Theron, who had been silent until now, followed me, his gaze searching my face.
“Elira, did you know Kaelen’s legs would end up like this?”
I met his questioning eyes with a cold stare.
‘Are you blaming me for not warning him earlier?”
Theron quickly explained himself.
‘No, you misunderstand. He’s my sworn enemy. He brought this on himself–I couldn’t be happier about his fate.”
‘I’m just curious how you were so certain his legs would fail.”
‘Elira, I truly didn’t mean to accuse you. My tone was wrong just now…”
Seeing his flustered explanation, I couldn’t help but laugh.
‘Alright, I believe you.”
‘Mrs. Velmoran showed me the video of Grace preparing the medicine. One liquid had no label–I

was suspicious then.”
“When I saw Kaelen stand, I guessed that bottle contained Corrosive Butterfly Water. It temporarily stimulates the inner wolf to awaken but causes the body to rot from the inside out. After a few minutes, the wolf body dies.”
Theron furrowed his brow.
“So did Grace deliberately harm Kaelen?”
I lowered my head, my eyes darkening: “Perhaps she was foolish, or perhaps she was being used.”
That evening, Mrs. Velmoran called again, pleading for help.
“Miss Elira, please, I beg you–save Kaelen.”
