Chapter58
Adelaide was thinking about how to argue back when Reginald
pointed across the street and said, “Let’s go, let’s have breakfast.”
After a scary morning run, Reginald went back to his room,
took a shower, and started working with high spirits. Adelaide,
on the other hand, went back to her room, lay on the sofa for a
while before taking a shower, and then started working too.
This morning, Adelaide finished the initial design drawings. She
called Nathan first because she was afraid Reginald was still
busy working. “Mr. Hurst, is Mr. Thorton taking a break?”
“Not yet, Mr. Thorton is still in a video conference. Does Ms.
Pierce need to talk to Mr. Thorton?”
“I finished the initial design draft and want to show it to Mr.
Thorton.”
“Then just come over now, the video conference should be
ending soon.””
“Okay“” Adelaide hung up the phone, grabbed her tablet, and
went next door. Nathan opened the door, and she kindly asked,
“Have you guys eaten yet?”
Chapter50
Nathan shook his head in frustration, “Mr. Thorton had three
video meetings this morning.”
Adelaide was a workaholic, always busy in her mind.
“I’ll wait here for a bit.”
“No need,” Nathan chuckled, looking a bit like a sly fox,“Ms.
Pierce, you can go straight in now.”
“Wasn’t Mr. Thorton still in the video conference?”
“No worries, that video conference should have ended long ago. Ms. Pierce, we’re both working stiffs, so do me a solid and help Mr. Thorton wrap it up early so I can grab some grub.” Nathan rubbed his stomach, “Three square meals are important, and I’m actually getting a bit of a stomachache from hunger.”
Seeing the situation, Adelaide softened and said, “So what
should I say?”
“I pushed the door open gently and let Mr. Thorton see you,”
Nathan said with a smile.
Adelaide had to ask him what he meant, standing in front of the study door, she grabbed the handle, nervously turning her face
to Nathan.
Nathan clenched his fists, moving up and down, cheering her
- on.
Chapter58
She thought being too soft–hearted was a problem, she needed
to change.
Took a deep breath, she plucked up the courage and opened the
door.
Just as her long hair fell to one side and leaned on her shoulder, Reginald sitting inside knew it was her.
His cold expression softened in an instant. Then he just said The meeting is over, and hung up the video call without waiting for
the others to react.
Seeing the woman standing at the door, Reginald leaned back in his seat and said, “Adelaide, are you planning to be a gatekeeper
out there?”
Adelaide then opened the door and explained, “Mr. Thorton, I’m here to show you the preliminary design sketches.”
“Um, show me.”
She walked over and handed him the tablet.
After looking at the design drawings, Reginald raised his eyebrows and suddenly asked, “Adelaide, are you planning to bury your profession for a lifetime if you don’t divorce
Garrett?”
Adelaide fell silent for a moment, then couldn’t help feeling a

little ashamed.
Before getting married, she fantasized about a wonderful life with Garrett and getting away from the Pierce family. As for work, she may have been subtly influenced by the Pierce family’s rules. So when Garrett said he wanted her to be a full-
time wife, she agreed.
Now that Reginald asked her like that, she realized how scary it
was.
Not long ago, Reginald stared at her and said, “In a way, I think you should be grateful to Amanda and Garrett. Without them, maybe you would have wasted this talent for a lifetime.”
