Chapter36
Reginald gave her a side–eye and asked, “Eating out?”
“I did it myself.”
“It looks like someone had a big meal.”
Upon hearing this, Adelaide looked at him in confusion, “Why
do you say that?”
“The first thing after work, isn’t it rushing home to cook a big
meal?”
She was right, he was indeed implying her. Then she asked
sincerely, “Can’t Orvenix Group get off work on time?”
Reginald narrowed his eyes and said, “There’s no such rule.”
The next second, she asked seriously again, “What did Mr.
Thorton mean on purpose?”
Reginald felt like he really should take back what he said
before, she was so tough, really tough. She used to seem quite
cautious and timid, but now she’s just speaking her mind.
He picked up the public chopsticks and put a piece of ribs in her

bowl. “I apologize.”
Adelaide was made awkward by his sincere apology, making her look like a rebellious employee. Plus, it was him who brought up the topic in the first place, she just responded
truthfully.
Although she thought so in her heart, she didn’t say it out loud. She just said thank you and then picked up the ribs to eat.
The taste was really good.
The meal ended quickly.
Adelaide just remembered something serious – where to work?
If she goes to the study, she decides to refuse…
“Why are you standing there, not coming over?” Reginald said,
standing in the living room.
Adelaide couldn’t help but ask, “Is it in the living room?”
Reginald turned to the side and joked, “Ms. Pierce, are you
heading to the study?”
“I liked it here, good lighting, spacious, perfect for overtime,”
Adelaide sat directly on the sofa chair with her tablet.
Reginald didn’t continue teasing her, ‘cause he got a call. He asked Draven to prepare some snacks for her, then he walked

out of the yard to answer the phone.
Adelaide was sweating bullets, her nerves stretched tight before
finally relaxing. Reginald was acting like a thug one moment,
then overly gentlemanly the next. If she didn’t stay on high
alert, she felt like she might have to wave the white flag.
Right now, in the yard.
Reginald answered a call from his toxic friend.
If you don’t pick up, this toxic friend could kill to here in half an
hour.
“Mr. Thorton, are you that busy?” The sarcastic friend spoke
first.
“You’re not busy, are you?” Reginald lit a cigarette. “What’s so urgent that you need to find me?”
Bad influence friend didn’t beat around the bush, gossiping: “I
heard the news, Adelaide has already started working in your
team.”
“Um.””
My friend waited for a moment, then exclaimed in shock:
“What? What?! Come on, spill the details!”
Reginald calmly took a puff of his cigarette, raised an eyebrow,
and looked at Adelaide, who was sitting on the sofa, working diligently. Deep and long eyes actually had been churning for a long time. He casually said, “She’s here to work, what more
details do you want?”
“Reginald, what are you pretending to be in front of me!” The
sarcastic friend almost shouted himself hoarse.
He wanted to twist his head off.
“She got married and then went to work at your place. Others
may not know, but do I not know you! You are really bad, I
don’t believe in any bullshit three–year bet. If you didn’t do
anything wrong, I’ll stand on my head and wash my hair for
three months!”
Reginald chuckled, he really wanted to twist his head.
