He was afraid that divorce would affect his good image in front of his father, thus affecting his inheritance. Maybe he really didn’t want to end this relationship, but he knew that if Amanda played any tricks again, he would still be fooled.

coldly interrupted him, sarcastically.
“This can’t be all my fault, it’s your father scheming against me.”
“What?”
Garrett spilled everything: “There was a client I couldn’t close
before, and it looked like my brother was about to steal them away. Your father secretly helped me out, but he asked me to have dinner with Amanda. I thought it was just a meal, I would eat and then come back quickly. But I didn’t expect… I admit I was weak–willed and confused at that time.”
After hearing this, Adelaide felt like her blood had turned to ice.

“That’s because I knew you care about the Pierce family, you definitely wouldn’t cut ties with them,” Garrett explained eagerly. “When your mother–in–law said those words, I was afraid you would feel uncomfortable, so I let you apologize first. But I didn’t mean to take Amanda’s side, I really did it for you.”
“Haha, should I thank you?” Adelaide mocked.
The Adelaide in front of Garrett was like nothing he had ever seen before, cold and distant. His inner turmoil was being magnified infinitely, as if Adelaide was drifting further and further away from him.
He wanted to use the good memories they once had to win her back, but his phone rang and stopped.
Garrett impatiently took out his phone and was about to furn it off.
Who would have thought that this time it was Finley calling.
He paused and said to Adelaide, “It’s not Amanda, it’s your father.”
