Chapter 15
Garrett gave her a stern look. “Adele, no matter how much you
hate Mandy, you shouldn’t do this. It’s not like you.”
“Garrett…” Amanda called out, close to tears.
Garrett warned Adelaide and then bent down to pick up
Amanda. “I’ll take Mandy back to her room.”
As soon as he left, Jeanette slapped Adelaide. “I should’ve
slapped you downstairs! Adelaide, you’d better pray Mandy is
okay, or I’ll never forgive you!”
“Mom, calm down.” Spencer stepped forward, shielding
Adelaide. “Go check on Mandy.”
Jeanette snorted coldly and left.
Spencer turned and reached to touch her slapped face. “Does it
hurt?”
Adelaide turned away, avoiding the touch. “She hit the wall
herself.”
Spencer said, “How she hurt herself doesn’t matter. Did you see
what really happened?”
Chapter 15
“Doesn’t matter?” Adelaide stared at him. “You’re nuts too!”
With that, she pushed him away and rushed out.
She ran straight out of the Pierce’s place. Her face was cold, but
tears poured down.
Honestly, Amanda’s trick was clumsy. But no matter how clumsy it was, everyone believed her.
Because Amanda was the sick one. Since the Pierce family
knew about what happened between Amanda and Garrett, they thought Adelaide hated Amanda, so lashing out seemed
normal.
But how could Garrett do this?
At that moment, Adelaide felt like she was drowning in ice
water, her heart frozen numb.
She drove out of the villa cluster, and her phone rang again.
She didn’t want to answer and figured it was the Pierce family
or Garrett. But to her surprise, it was Reginald again.
Remembering that Reginald was now her boss, Adelaide held back her emotions and answered the call. “Mr. Thorton,” she
greeted.
Reginald’s tone, no longer teasing, was a bit heavy. “Pull over at

the next intersection”
Hearing this, Adelaide paused for a second and then quickly
looked back.
“I’m behind you. Don’t get distracted.”
Adelaide hung up, feeling her sadness fade away because of
Reginald’s sternness.
After pulling over, she got out of the car and Nathan
approached.
“Ms. Pierce, please get in the car behind. I’ll drive your car back
to the Sterling Estates.”
Adelaide glanced at the Rolls–Royce, and Nathan continued,
“Ms. Pierce, when you drove out, Mr. Pierce sent someone to
follow you. If we stay here any longer, we’ll be discovered.”
Hearing this, Adelaide widened her eyes in surprise. Then she
nodded calmly. “Thank you, Mr. Hurst.”
Without hesitation, she picked up her handbag and calmly got
into the Rolls–Royce.
Reginald was sitting with his legs crossed, looking relaxed.
Adelaide greeted, “Mr. Thorton.”
Chapter 15
There was a light on the roof. When Reginald glanced over, he sharply noticed the slap mark on her face.
The next second, he reached out, pinched her chin, and turned
her left face toward him.
“Mr. Thorton…” Adelaide tried to break free, but his face was
already close. His eyes were darkened, and she couldn’t help but
hold her breath.
“What a hard slap. Did your stepfather or stepmother do this?”
His voice was clearly cold.
It didn’t feel like he was just concerned about her. It seemed that if she told him who did it, he would settle the score right away.
She had only ever felt secure with Teresa. She never thought
another guy would make her feel this way.
On second thought, Garrett had never made her feel this secure.
The more she thought about it, the more Garrett seemed like a
jerk.
Adelaide pulled away his hand, sat up straight, and said,
“Thanks for caring, Mr. Thorton. I’m fine. Can I ask which client
we’re meeting?”
“Let’s meet the client another day!”
