Chapter 15
The question caught Olivia off guard. He’d got looks, money,
Her feelings for Neil had started when he saved her. She was pin been completely and utterly infatuated with him.
Olivia was about to say more when a formal ringtone
and background, but none of that seemed to matter anymore.
then–dreaming of love, like any girl her age. And from that moment on, she’d
the silence–Liam’s phone. The tone was as serious as he was.
Liam glanced down, pulled his phone from his pocket, and answered with a curt, “Yeah?”
Olivia couldn’t catch the words on the other end, but she heard a woman’s voice. ‘That must be Felicity, she murmured to herself.
The call ended in a flash.
“Felicity needs you?” Olivia reached for the car door. “I’ll just grab a cab. You go ahead.”
“Actually, she wants to take you to dinner,” Liam said with a flat tone.
Olivia paused mid–motion.
“She booked a place. Let’s head over now,” Liam added.
Olivia hesitated, but could find no excuse to refuse. “Alright,” she conceded.
Liam just nodded and turned to the driver. “Let’s go ”
“Right away, Mr. Kline,” the driver replied, easing the car into motion.
The bar district was always hopping, no matter the hour. Crowds swarmed around the food stalls lining the sidewalks. But as they passed one shop, Olivia’s eyes locked onto it, and she kept staring even after the car had moved on.
Liam noticed her distraction and followed her gaze. He got it in an instant. Her craving for those cream puffs when he was feeling down hadn’t changed
a bit.
But he kept his face neutral and just said, “Turn the car around.”
“Huh?” Both Olivia and the driver looked puzzled.
“Need to pick up some puffs,” Liam clarified.
“Right away, sir.” The driver made a quick U–turn at the next intersection and headed back.
Olivia glanced at the shop and asked, “You like those puffs, Liam?”
Liam’s eyes flickered briefly, but he quickly smoothed his expression. “Felicity loves them. Thought I’d grab some for her.”
Olivia smiled, “Ah, so it’s for Felicity. Wait here, Liam,I’ll be right back.”
“Take your time,” Liam said.
A few minutes later, Olivia hopped back into the car, juggling two bags of cream puffs. The delicate aroma of the sweet, buttery pastries filled the air creating an unexpected contrast with the sleek/high–end luxury of the car’s interior.
The driver kept stealing glances in the rearview mirror, his eyes wide with disbelief. Normally, Liam would never let such a mess near his car. He was a stickler for cleanliness, the kind of guy who couldn’t stand even a speck of dust.
But there was something different about Olivia. The driver assumed she might be someone who could break his rules.
