Chapter 50
Olivia panicked when she heard Dylan’s footsteps approaching the door. She instantly got to her feet.
She wanted to tell Julian to hide in the bathroom, but the doorknob was already turning. The bathroom was too far away–there was no time
Without thinking, she shoved Julian under the desk and threw the blanket from her lap over him.
Dylan opened the door and saw Olivia sitting at her vanity, typing away on her laptop. “Have you seen Mr. Hudson?” he asked. “He said he wanted to look around the place, but now I can’t find him anywhere. I’ve been searching for ages.”
Olivia didn’t even glance back. “I’ve been in here the whole time. Haven’t seen him. Try looking in the courtyard.”
Dylan frowned. “I was downstairs the whole time and never saw him come down. How could he end up in the garden? This is so weird. I’ve checked every room and he’s nowhere to be found. Where could he have gone?”
Olivia replied with a blank face, “No idea. Don’t ask me.”
Dylan’s expression darkened. He scolded, “Can you at least try to be nicer to me? We’ve got a guest in the house, and you’re still so mean to me.
“If he tells Grandpa Herbert that we’re just pretending to be a loving couple, Grandpa Morgan might know about this, too. That’d be a breach of contract on your part.”
Olivia replied calmly, “Well, the guest isn’t here right now, is he? I’m just worried if I’m too nice to you, Chloe will accuse me of seducing you.”
Dylan looked at her with a half–smile. “So you’re mad because I let Chloe move in? Is that why you’ve been so violent with me lately?”
“I’ve always been violent,” Olivia said. “It’s just that before, I only hit Chloe when she got on my nerves.
“Now that she’s living here and you love jumping in to protect her every time she acts up, I figure I’ll give you the chance to be a hero–by taking a few punches for her.”
She’d originally planned to put on a show of being madly in love with Dylan so that Julian would buy it and finally stop chasing after her.
But as she looked at Dylan’s infuriating face, she just couldn’t fake it, so she scrapped that idea.
Truth was, she didn’t really want to cut things off with Julian. The timing just wasn’t right. She was afraid he’d mess things up, so she’d been trying to push him away–even if it went against her own wishes.
But since that clearly wasn’t working, she figured she’d just have to come up with another plan.
As long as she could keep things under wraps for a few more months, once her pregnancy was further along, she’d have more wiggle room. She could fudge the dates and just tell Julian the baby was Dylan’s.
If he got hurt and chose to walk away, she’d let him go. But if he still wanted to be with her, that would be perfect. After she gave birth and got her share of the inheritance, she could be with him openly.
Honestly, with his broad shoulders, lean waist, long legs, and how considerate he was–plus the fact that he kept getting better in bed–she was more
than satisfied.
As she was thinking all that, she suddenly felt a tickle on her leg. Julian was starting to get handsy again.
She turned to Dylan, clearly annoyed. “Get out, Stop bothering me, or I’ll go tell Chloe you tried to hit on me while she wasn’t around.”
Dylan sneered. “You’re really overdoing the whole ‘playing hard to get‘ thing. The first couple of times you messed with me, it was kind of interesting, but now it’s just annoying.”
Olivia’s expression shifted as she thought, ‘This man is so full of himself. Even now, he still thinks I’m just trying to get his attention. He’s so confident,

probably because I used to love him so much that I lost my self–respect.
‘That’s my fault. That’s the mistake I made. So now, having to listen to his ridiculous comments every day is just my karma. I totally deserve it.
Dylan felt bored when she didn’t respond and said impatiently, “Since we have a guest at home, from tonight on, we should sleep in the same room, or he will notice we’re not close.
“If he tells Grandpa Herbert about it, Grandpa Morgan will know and be upset. We don’t want that.”
Olivia finally turned to look at him, surprised. “Aren’t you worried Chloe will get mad?”
“She’s reasonable,” Dylan replied. “This concerns Grandpa Morgan’s health. She won’t make a fuss.”
Olivia shrugged. “If she’s fine with it, then I’ve got nothing to say. Now that you’ve said your piece, leave. Don’t waste my time—I have work to do.”
Dylan snorted, “I know you’re secretly thrilled.” With that, he walked out–still as rude as ever, leaving the door wide open behind him.
Hearing Dylan’s footsteps going down the stairs, Olivia finally tossed the blanket off her lap and glared furiously at Julian. “You really don’t care what happens to me, do you? You seriously pulled that crap with him standing right there?!”
Julian looked up at her, his eyes dark and moody. “You agreed to sleep in the same room as him tonight. He’s always fooling around with his mistress- doesn’t that gross you out?”
Olivia gritted her teeth and snapped, “Me being with him is normal. Being with you is not. Get your head on straight and remember your place.”
Julian let out a cold snort, his jealousy written all over his face. “So you’re sharing a room with him. What about me?”
“There are plenty of guest rooms in this house. Pick one.”
“You know I don’t care about the room. I care about you. There may be a dozen rooms here, but I only want to be where you are. If you’re with him, then what am I supposed to do?”
Olivia’s heart started to race. Few people could possibly resist such direct, intense affection. Fortunately, she could. “Cut it out. Even if I don’t stay with him, there’s no way I’m staying with you.”
She didn’t intend to cut Julian off, but for now, they absolutely couldn’t get physical–otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to blur the timeline of her pregnancy later.
Julian suddenly bit her. A perfect row of teeth marks appeared on her thigh.
Olivia smacked him on the head. “What are you, a dog? Stop biting me and get downstairs. If Dylan still can’t find you, he might call the cops.”
Julian said in a wounded tone, “Come on, comfort me a little. I’m really mad right now.”
Olivia stared at him, expressionless.
Julian met her gaze, eyes full of longing, like a puppy begging for attention. “I’m easy to cheer up, you know.”
