Chapter 47
Dylan’s face was stormy, his eyes blazing with anger, while Julian could barely contain his excitement.
Everyone around them stared at them in disbelief.
They thought, ‘it makes sense for Dylan to be emotional when he heard that Olivia might be pregnant–he’s her husband, after all. But what’s with the other guy? Why’s he so excited about someone else’s wife being pregnant?‘
And the more they watched, the more off it felt–something about Julian and Dylan’s reactions just didn’t sit right.
“Why do I feel like Dylan looks pissed?” someone whispered.
“Yeah, same here. You’d think he’d be happy his wife’s pregnant, but he looks like he’s about to explode,” another echoed.
“And who’s the other guy? He looks so excited–if one didn’t know better, they’d think it was his wife who was pregnant…”
“I’m not sure who he is, but I saw him with Mr. Hebert Klein and the others earlier. Maybe he’s a relative? The Klein family doesn’t have many children, and now that Dylan’s having one, I guess it makes sense he’s happy for Dylan.”
“He’s so handsome, elegant, and dignified. His family must be something else to raise someone like that. I wonder if he’s married. If not, I’d love to set him up with my daughter…”
Whispers rippled through the crowd.
But Julian and Dylan seemed completely oblivious. They just kept staring at Olivia, determined to get an answer.
Olivia’s face went pale. Cold sweat trickled down her back, and her heart felt like it had stopped.
She was barely five weeks pregnant. And just over two weeks ago, she’d still been with Julian.
If someone checked and confirmed she was pregnant–especially with the estimated conception date–Julian would definitely realize the baby was his. With his background, there was no way he’d allow his child to be raised outside his reach.
She couldn’t let Julian ruin her plans.
Olivia tried to pull her hands back, but both men had a firm grip on her–especially Dylan, who was practically crushing her wrist. Her palm was already red and swollen from the pressure.
Forcing herself to stay calm, Olivia managed a smile and tried to sound casual. “My stomach’s acting up, and I didn’t sleep well last night, so I feel a bit
nauseous.
“I’m not pregnant. I’ll be fine after a couple of days‘ rest–no need to see a doctor,” she said.
Someone nearby immediately chimed in, “That doesn’t seem like a stomach problem. If it were, you’d only feel sick when brushing your teeth or eating something. But you’re getting nauseous just from smells–that seems a lot more like morning sickness.”
“Trust me, I’ve had two kids–this is exactly what morning sickness looks like,” someone else said.
“You and Dylan have been married for years. It’s perfectly normal for you to be pregnant. Why don’t you let Mr. Melton take a look? He’s a well–known. traditional medicine doctor. Even if it’s just your stomach, he can still prescribe something to help.”
“It’s perfectly normal for younger women to miss the signs. When I was pregnant with my first, I kept dozing off everywhere.
“I thought I was just feeling lightheaded and took medicine without checking with a doctor. In the end, I lost the baby. Don’t make the same mistake
did.”
No one suspected that Olivia was trying to hide her pregnancy or was too guilty to admit it. They just figured she was young and inexperienced,

mistaking pregnancy symptoms for something else.
Then Herbert spoke up. “They’re right. Just let Charlie check your pulse. Even if it’s not a pregnancy, you clearly don’t feet well, and you shoulda i brush
it off.
“When you went upstairs earlier, saying you didn’t feel good, I asked Charlie to stay a bit longer so he could check on you.
“Now that your symptoms are so obvious, and everyone’s worried about you, just let him take a look. It’ll give us all peace of mind.”
Olivia was completely cornered–she didn’t dare refuse at all.
Right now, everyone around her was simply showing concern. But if she kept refusing to be examined, they’d start to suspect that she felt guilty and didn’t dare go through with the checkup.
Normally, if someone wasn’t feeling well and a famous doctor offered to help, they would readily agree–unless they knew something shameful was going on and were scared of being exposed.
Olivia had no choice but to bite the bullet and nod. “Alright. Thank you, Charlie.”
Only then did Dylan and Julian finally let her go.
Olivia politely helped Charlie over to a table. Just as they were about to sit down, she bent slightly and whispered in his ear; her lips barely moving, “Don’t you dare say I’m pregnant, or I swear, I’ll hang myself at your front door tonight.”
Charlie’s lips trembled hard. When he looked up, Olivia was already sitting across from him, smiling sweetly, her wrist extended toward him.
Charlie placed his fingers on her wrist to check her pulse. After two or three minutes, he finally pulled his hand back.
“So, Charlie, how is she?” Herbert asked eagerly.
Charlie cleared his throat. Not daring to meet his old friend’s eyes, he lowered his gaze to hide his guilty look. “Her stomach is indeed upset. I’ll write a prescription when I get back–have her come by tomorrow to pick it up.”
Dylan visibly let out a sigh of relief, all the anger and gloom on his face disappearing.
Julian, on the other hand, looked a little disappointed. He thought, ‘If Olivia were pregnant, that child would bind us together in a way that couldn’t be
undone. What a shame.‘
Chloe stood at the back of the crowd, her eyes blazing with jealousy and anger.
All night, she’d been nothing but a wallflower, drifting from group to group, trying to make connections–only to be ignored. She wanted to talk to Dylan, but never got the chance.
Dylan had completely brushed Chloe off. And yet, the moment Olivia showed even the slightest sign of distress, Dylan got all worked up.
Whether he was happy or mad about Olivia’s pregnancy didn’t matter. The fact that his mood was affected by Olivia proved he cared.
If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t have gotten so emotional–whether it was about Olivia being pregnant or just having stomach problems.
A sense of crisis kept growing inside Chloe. She thought, ‘I have to move up my plan. I need to create a moment where I can save Dylan and become indispensable.
‘No, that still isn’t enough. If the opportunity presents itself, I want Olivia gone for good.’
The party went on without any further drama, When the event ended, Olivia and Dylan stayed the night at the Klein residence.
The next morning, after leaving the Klein residence, Olivia went to a fruit shop, bought a carefully selected gift basket, and visited Charlie’s home alone.
Once inside his study, she spoke with sincerity, “I’m sorry, Charlie. I didn’t mean to threaten you last night. I’ve only been pregnant for a little over a

month, and I’m worried something might go wrong. I didn’t want to turn Herbert’s joy into disappointment.
“You know how his health is. He can’t handle emotional ups and downs. I thought I’d wait until I’m safely past three or four months–until the pregnancy is stable–then share the good news with him.”
Charlie said, “You’re so thoughtful. I don’t blame you. But you’re not wrong to be concerned. This pregnancy isn’t very stable.”
Olivia’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. That was just a random excuse she’d come up with–but it actually turned out to be true. “Charlie, is there any way to keep this baby? I really need this child. Please, you have to help me.”
Charlie said, “You’ve been too anxious lately, with too much on your mind. Emotional stress can affect fetal development. And since you’re carrying twins, you need to be extra careful. You must stay relaxed and maintain a cheerful mood.
“Even without a pregnancy, being overly stressed can lead to real health problems. Many illnesses start from emotional strain. Don’t brush it off just because it’s not an issue with your organs. It’s still serious.”
Olivia was shocked that she was pregnant with twins. She’d never had kids before, but she’d read online about how tough it was for women carrying multiple babies and the toll it took on their bodies.
‘Great, just what I need–one more thing to stress about,‘ she thought. Forcing a smile, she said, “Thank you, Charlie. I’ll be careful.”
Charlie sighed. “All medicine has side effects. You’re still very early in your pregnancy, so I won’t prescribe anything just yet. But you should consider seeing a therapist–get some emotional guidance.”
Olivia thanked him and left the house. She didn’t go to a therapist. She went straight home.
But the moment she stepped into the living room and saw the familiar figure, her heart nearly stopped. ‘Julian?! What the hell is he doing in my house with Dylan?‘ she thought.
